I have an '01 AU2 XR6 5 Speed Ute, with VCT engine. It has done 190,000km and I have had it since 70,000km. In that time nothing has ever gone wrong with it, but I have done a bit of preventative maintenance.

Before 70,000 I dont think it had anything (I bought it off a mate) but since then it has had:

Water pump
clutch
exhaust
front brakes machined
front wheel bearings (twice since ive had it)
ignition coil
leads

At the moment it needs a new power steering hose (rack and pump are fine) and it will need a new clutch soon. One of the idler pulleys is a bit noisy but I plan to replace it along with the belts in its major service soon.

It does have the notorious firewall crack and leaks water in the rain but I will be hopefully fixing that soon too.

It has been an awesome ute and when I look back now it has been ultra reliable. It has towed all sorts of bikes, cars and buggies all over the place and has been on some long trips up and down the coast. It has never been out of action for more than a day and a half at a time. I need it to last me about another 50,000km before I get a new car so these days I baby it, but up until about a year ago it got flogged pretty regularly... the clutches would have lasted much longer if I had not done so many burnouts!

Just to finish off a good mate of mine had an '01 VS commodore ute since new and had babied it all its life. He sold it about a year ago with 160,000 km on it and it was farked! Seat mounts were broken, dash was about to fall in his lap and the paint was all blistered and faded.

GO THE FALCONS!

can't remember if i replied to this earlier, but my 2002 SR is up to 197k's..

purchased in august 2005 with 70k's on it.. we used to run up a few k's going from central coast to newcastle 6 days a week - then my wife 'retired' to have kids in 2007, so now it just driven locally a few days a week with 1 trip to newcastle a week..

I've only owned the XR6 ute for a couple of months and it had 158000 on it when I got it, now has 159345

Replaced power steering hose, slight weep around the swage.

Had a chip in the windscreen repaired

New oil and air filters, and skimmed the discs and fitted new pads.

New coolant tank

In the new year I plan on spending a bit on a new exhaust system, wheels and tyres, have the suspension overhauled and a few dodads for the motor, finances permitting.
