Skoda would be Europe's bogan equivalent.

Found this on another forum;
Looks like Japan is only getting the 50th anniversary edition ecoboost. No GT for us over here. But that being said, with all the tuner Turbo stuff out here might get interesting. Not really a big market for V8s yet. Although I have been seeing more and more of them show up. Only getting 350 cars mid next year. Starting price is a cool 4.6 million Yen which translates to about 42.6k USD. They just opened up preorders. This equates to $48253.91 AUD. |

So they're not afraid to jack up prices outside of the US then? That's an approx. $US30k car that they're getting for $US42k.
I still think around $50k for the ecoboost is where it'll be in Australia. Think about it: 1. It is bigger than the 86 and MX5. 2. It is faster than the 86 and MX5. 3. It is newer than the 86 and MX5. 4. It compares better to the top-spec 86, not the base model. 5. The top-spec 86 is currently about $45k drive-away. 6. The MX5 starts at around $50k drive-away. 7. XR6 Turbo is aroundf $50k drive-away - that's what I reckon ford expect the ecoboost mustang to replace. 8. XR8 is around $60k drive-away - that's what the new V8 mustang is expected to replace. 9. At $50k for the Ecoboost and $70k for the V8 it compares well in terms of value for money to any European coupe. If they sell the ecoboost for less than $50k it'll be a bargain compared to what else is out there, I expect. If you can get the V8 for close to that (I think closer to $70k) it will be too. I know this isn't what many of you want to hear, but at least I've explained why I'm saying what I'm saying. Making snide remarks about what my predictions are without justifying your perspective (other than 'its too dear'/'won't sell derp') aren't progressing the discussion. |

It is also old fashioned to say that someone who buys a Sony 55" Full HD TV wouldn't consider the cheaper Hisense or Soniq TV. People do that (and often buy the cheaper one). In the case of Euro 4 cylinder coupe vs Mustang they are both cars. And cars compare well to cars, funnily enough. Particularly if they are both coupes of similar size. So get with the times. It is a money driven society and people want to save a dollar all the time where they can. I know rich doctors who went to HSVs from BMWs and AMGs and vice versa. People do cross-shop Euro and non-Euro marques all the time if the cars have the features they want and they can afford both. |

very important question for Ford to pitch the pricing right , bearing in mind they dont have to carry the overhead so much now , i would have assumed comparative pricing to usa plus say 5% (lower volumes)
If they get it wrong they are stuffed and will spin wheels for a while!! |

Numbers or percentages of each group are harder to establish. Euro manufacturers produce and sell cars in a price range that goes to 300k + , as such their reputation is for quality and exclusivity which applies even to their cheaper models. Those are aspirational brands. Recently went car shopping with my work colleague - she considered Audi ,BMW and Mercedes....even Lexus IS 350 suggested by me was quickly dismissed even if it outperforms others by substantial margin. I believe 70k is for the convertible v8 so the v8 coupe should be in the middle.

Mute point for me!
Local Ford salesman advised me on the weekend: Release date Oct 2015 Price unknown but deposit required of $1000 and right of refusal and deposit refund when price and specification released, 10 customers have already signed up, and 6 to 9 month wait after release if not on board dealer deposit scheme... That is what I call an experience not to be forgotten!!! As you can guess I won't get my Mustang from that particular dealer... |

The Mustang will be a premium, aspirational image leader for Ford. Even the Chief engineer for the Mustang has stated it will be a niche product outside of the US.

I'm very interested in the GT Premium. I've had a look through the brochure for the American market and they seem very well equipped.
At this stage I'm not going to be placing any deposit, I'd rather see the specs and equipment list and option packages before getting serious. Missus has already given her blessing for a Black one, so the major stumbling block has been overcome!

Mustang Gt price is $35420 list Galpin Ford Calfornia.
Eco boost premium is $37300. Gt Premium is $40 - 45000. Ecoboost is $27800. If our cheapest is $50k I can't see a V8 model for less than $65000.

They have to slot into the current lineup somewhere.... Going by your theory, they should slot in under the Focus for the EB and equal to XR6(with lux) for the V8? Please. Tell us more.

Despite musings to the contrary on this forum, the Mustang in general is not a premium product. With an approximate drive away price of $US35k for the Mustang GT with no option boxes ticked, there is no reason the same no frills GT should not be in the AUD$48k - $53k bracket in Australia. If the $65-70k rumblings are true, Ford will struggle to move them.

The Monaro a few years ago should be a pointer to how the Mustang will be priced. As to not selling many, again its to be a image leader for Ford (like the Monaro was) and isn't intended to a mass product like in the US where its sales are overly inflated by rental and fleet sales. Unlike our V8 taxis, the Mustang doesn't have an entire manufacturing industry riding on mass sales.
