Nice empty Superslab.

Put the little swap meet truck to work shifting stuff, getting the cabin ready to use.

Appart from getting pizza for breakfast, i got into the pile of tree trimmings on my driveway that are too big to snap over your knee to bin. So the black and decker 200 work bench made a comeback. Clamped stuff down. As much as i hate my chainsaw, i put a new chain on it last week. I swear that thing has one aim in life, and thats to cut my face off. But it does start stupidly easy, and with a new chain, it likes to cut. Got a bin full in no time. The stupid thing can sit for 6 months and still starts like it ran yesterday. The hardest part was the first replacement chain. But i used specs not part numbers. The chain has the same part number as the chainsaw. But 2 chains in and i still have a face. 3 pulls. Thats all it wants. 1 full choke, a second full choke and she kicks, 3rd half choke, throttle and choke is off and thats it, a genuine angry face cutting machine.

Fuel economy (mostly highway) for the DD last week, measured by GPS km and pump litres - 6.87/100. Not bad for a self-maintained 30 year old 2 litre engine with 330+km on the short block and one refresh of the head 50K ago.

Daily Driver.

Nothing to do with bra sizes or Detroit Diesels!

Detroit Diesels (DD) 10 mile to the gallon is good. (You can work out the metric)

So what is this 2 litre daily ?

Found something out on a famous Ford race car that makes me feel good. ..Finally realizing something blatantly obvious that I'd never noticed before although my experience like most of us other than videos etc is severely limited . Yet to see the new movie either but watched a trailer for it last night and where I observed something I thought strange .

Despite the legendary LeMans winning GT40 from the 60's was an American funded and supported race car for the famous 24 hour race and it was actually Right Hand Drive which I thought odd for that U.S. backed car. Also the gearshift was on the right of the driver. Lola and Cooper in the U.K.though were also heavily involved.

Just now I looked up more detail and found stuff like this . Interesting if anybody wants to look .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjwLWOR_FJQ

The Mk lll though was the only one that they built some road cars based on the original GT40 and only seven of them were built . Four were LHD and three RHD . Of course the future Ford GT in 2005 and 2017 paying homage to the GT40 is totally road going not that it's likely too many would ever finish up here.

and...

https://moneyinc.com/history-ford-gt40/..

I know you'll all sleep better tonight knowing that..!!!!!!!!!

Discovered my Snap-On ratchet screwdriver was just long enough with a 5mm hex bit, to start and snug up the intake manifold screws on Povo Ute. Made torquing up much simpler.

Did something strange today. I called a mate. On the electric telling bone. Just to see how he is going. He did work in one of those industries that currently temporarily does not exist and i know he had lost any sense of direction. It was a good conversation. My mate is deffinately boored, he is currently staying with his parents up the central coast. Im glad i didnt open my mouth when told the job keeper allowance was only $10 less then his normal wage. So he still pays his rent. That i know, im the landlord. But, had it been hard times, id wave it. But, when the conversation is more about the pesky kookaburras as opposed to the magpies, it could be worse.

This morning word on my grandpa wasnt good. He made it through the night, but that was it. Anyhow, i stole a cord off a battery charger i have that fits the charger for the laptop my kid was keen on, its an old hp. So i put that in a bag, with all the sauce. Yep, im a dad, 2 bottles of hp. So i dropped that off with the intention to take the kid to pick up a cheap wireless keyboard and mouse. Officeworks was sold out of all but the expensive ergonomic wireless keyboards. But they had cheap wireless mice. My kid was cool with that. Me and the boy also bought nibblies for nana. Sophisticated stuff for effectively 2 idiots. Olives and stuff. But after dropping the little unit off, driving home i got a text. Didnt read it for a while after getting home. My grandpa isnt out of the woods, but he has had a good day, semi concious and talking nonsence, thats better then being a vegatable.

I went for my first bicycle ride since my crash last July. It was slow and difficult but it is a start.

Realised I’d driven home from work with my nailbag sitting on the ute roll-top just behind the cab, passenger side.

Nothing had moved. Relieved, because it’s got strong sentimental value.

ULP 91 was 84.5c/L so I filled up the BA ute for $55!

Also beer. But mainly the fact I could afford beer because to fill up the BA was usually $80-90.

Oh, and the fact that in WA I could drive it and get petrol and go where ever in the first place.
