Heard from a mate i used to work with 7 or 8 years ago. He was my first apprentice. He has applied for a job back with my work. But the guy is stuck in isolation in a hotel in melbourne as he just made it back from south america. Its funny when people randomly come out of the woodwork.

Spent the day in numerous supermarkets. It’s the first time in weeks where they didn’t feel like the night before Christmas. Maybe normal is returning.

Just heard from my mum a status on my grandpa who had a stroke last week. Today he was up and dressed. Thats good. He is frail but his mind is still there, so he, for an old bloke is recovering surprisingly well for a dinosaur of 93 years old. Im just happy he lives to roam this earth for a bit longer. Like my ex wifes mum said last week when i got a bit upset to her, she wasnt the most happy either, hes a strong old bugger.

Just make sure you don't use all of your wife's tomato stakes as kindling, like someone did in this household

Woke up to the lovely sound of rain today. Needed a day off and we haven't had much rain lately.

Deserves a separate thread, almost.
The Polly Waffle is back. Best bit (the irony!) is funding for the production line was announced by a politician. |

Bought some Meritor brake parts for the stalled Louisville project today and was happy to find most of it is made/assembled in Australia.

Shaved off my "isolation" beard in preparation for my return to work tomorrow.
I was starting to look pretty shabby, don't want to scare off the customers.

Well, after lunch yesterday, i gave the life lesson to my apprentice. And thats in a building you work in frequently get in good with the coffee shop owner and staff, theyll hook you up. So i had a breif meeting about this mornings works yesterday with the coffee shop owner in a building we are often in. Then ordered lunch, he did us free drinks, but my apprentice initially wasnt happy with no vego options, so i had a quick word and the chefs used their creative freedom and whipped a combo of the most booring things up and he liked it. So after my advice, now, my other words were simple. If your mouth moves your hands dont stop. But this morning, smashing it out, yeah, he was being both sociable to the owner and staff and usefull. His morning coffee was on the house. Although, as a tradie, theres 5 acceptable coffees. Espresso shot, flat white and cappachino. For the fat bastards, skinny flat or cap is also acceptable. This kid orders almond caramel latte with chia. I only do coffees in meetings as its socially accepted and im lactose intollerant. But the kid also got his arvo wowser coffee half price. So he needs to keep presence. Never walk past with another shops coffee, and sometimes 1 hand washes the other. Like rocking up to the staff stressing out because all the sandwich presses have lost power and theres a que. Jump the que, find the stuffed sandwich press, turn them back on and get a free lunch. Dont charge them for the 2 minute job, but when they want real work done they call my work, and in the meantime, i get discounts. Its all greasing the wheels.

Actually, 1 other thing. After packing up after the early morning job, we went back into the coffee shoppe to clean up. It wasnt too horrid, just a bit of gyprock dust here and there. But the owner said dont worry bout it. He is italian. He says we dont get paid to clean. Well yes we do. Whens the last time someone has said good things about a trade doing good work and leaving a mess. The mess is part of the job, either floor protection or clean up. Mopping the floor isnt hard. But he refused us doing it.

Had a really productive weekend. A stressful friday arvo lead to a lot of things getting done. It snowballed from there, helped my mum, helped my brother. All that was after helping myself. Good weekend in synopsys.

Masterfoods 2 litre barbecue sauce on special at Colesworths.
It’s 70% Aussie, the most of any common brands so far as I’ve found. Fountain for example is about 42% Oz ingredients. |
