There’s different service details in the Auckland link - different number and rank.

Easter Buns; local Colesworths are still baking and selling them. Missed out last time, have just gutsed two with unsalted butter.

Coming up to nearly 200 posts and still no valid testing by the OP. Perhaps we need to start a "pointless thread" thread?

Thanks ......
I contacted the Australian War Memorial this arvo after work . I gave them all the details . The woman I spoke to told me that being so long ago , only a single next of kin was usually named in the records in those days . I know that's true because on both my Uncles war records only my Grandfather is named . She told me that it might be really difficult to find a current family link if there is one given privacy laws and such . Otherwise I'll find an appropriate home for it like a collector or museum if I can't get much info on the medal recipient in the future . Cheers again .. |

Got that letterbox finished today. Taking a couple of weeks off until the next job.
Neighbours in the street tell me it will be sad to see me go as they have all been enjoying watching the building process while they have been in isolation. Another happy customer and neighbours.

Got my latest HbA1c (long term blood glucose) test results today and they have gone down since the last check, which included the Christmas eating fest.
49 / 6.6 without the use of an insulin pump.

Actually had a really productive work day. Whilst there is plenty of work on, the service team has gone from myself, 2 other tradesmen and an apprentice to just myself. Service work pays the wages at work. Do a job, get it invoiced the next day, it gets payed the day after. With the current situation, wholesalers and suppliers are running skeleton staff due to distancing etc, so add the elongated import times into that, things take a bit longer for parts. Closed off 6 jobs today. Ready to invoice. Not 1 job did i have to explain the longer lead time on parts. Its been a little bit since ive had a day when i have been able to just get things done without any roadblocks. Getting another tradesman would be nice, for every job i knock over another 2 get thrown on the list, but atleast i have routine still. That was something i struggled with a bit on the initial lockdown. Im flat out now, but initially things were slow and i have a short attention span, so going to work every day and being told to draw things out as opposed to get 'it done did drive me a bit nuts.

Listened to a fellow work officer be unnecessarily abused non-stop (the lovely lady put the client on speaker on my request as she started showing tears) so I could hear.
I grabbed the phone, didn't say a word and hung up up and blocked number. Usually I'd take a difficult call but he didn't deserve that level of respect. Officer was understandably pretty upset, told her to take rest of the day off and that any consequences from my actions I'll take responsibility for as her supervisor. She smiled ,and said thank you so yeah - felt really good I helped her as a fantastic officer and didn't deserve what she was told about herself. Last edited by MercuryT; 14-05-2020 at 04:56 PM. |

My mate who rents my granny flat spent the past 8 weeks staying up the coast with his parents. Long story short, he works in an industry thats probably going to be one of the last to get restrictions lifted, still gets paid, but no he is not a prostitute.. But, he trained it back from the small town his parents reside in, we had a yarn over a few beers. He has spent the last 8 weeks doing nothing more then helping out on his parents property, my last 8 weeks ive been at work, and its getting busy.
But good to have a beer with a mate. |

I can't imagine how much money VLine country trains are losing at the moment but I had a nice free ride of 130km and only 1 other passenger on the train back today after dropping the truck off.

Caught up with a lady on the front desk of a place i do work for. Last few times ive seen her she has been busy, and we keep it proffesional when she has clients and staff around. But today she didnt. But she did use my line on me. The line that got me handed a post it note with her number. She pulled me to the side and whispered her new big boss wants to get rid of her, but her manager showed her the emails of all the reasons to keep her. Then she said, stole my line, and said her manager left off one important reason, she makes the place look good. Yeah i agreed, but that was my line to her. Leave the flattery up to me, dont flatter yourself. Had a good laugh about a few things.

Next door neighbour fixed toilet (part of contract).
I had a go and had no idea. Couldn't even undo the bolts. He bought a $4 part and took 5 minutes........rear seal leak (was spraying water everywhere but only when flushed) Yes I admit. I'm pathetic : ( But rapt it's done! |

Went and got my car today. It hasnt lived on my driveway for 8 years. Condition report I'll leave aside, but mechanically its good. So nice to drive. Quicker then i remembered, but ive been in comercial vehicles for the pase decade. But everything still works. And with electric adjustable pedals and electric seat, no comprimise at all. Its a fat guy car, but also handles sort of alright.
