That's what I'll be on the look out for. The fact that they are more unsuspecting and understated helps with purchase price to some degree. A lot dont realize how good these cars actually are. Plus having the reliability factor, its a big advantage over the German counter parts.

Mate people don't realise how good Lexus is full stop.

As I've posted before my Dad sold his Audi S Line (Euro options are ridiculous....) to get a Lexus.

Audi nice car, like BMW etc. Lexus easily on same level and cheaper as it already has everything you want. So reliable.

I'm sure the V8 Lexus a superb car as no drag type would never bought one.

Ive been watching a number of YouTube videos on the ISF and the more I watch, the more I want. The look and sound great and would suit the use I have it for perfectly and Ive looked at a tonne of cars over the past 12months.

In a different world I nearly bought a Soarer V8. (I bought a Ford Probe instead.....literally most reliable car I've owned even if daggy now).

Toyota/Lexus have their name and reputation for a reason.

My Brother bought a SRT Jeep. Feels a decade behind inside and out compared to Dad's Lexus of similar year.

Sounds great, goes well, looks good........best I can offer in terms of quality as it's US crap really.

Insurance mate. I preferred the Soarer but the Probe was actually a really nice car to drive, enough power and had plenty of equipment for the time/price. In dark green and lowered I enjoyed it as a 19/20yo!

86 is a good car essentially, if you boosted it (super or turbo doesnt matter) it would transform the opinion of them. Id be interested to drive one with a bit more grunt. You can pick a cheapy up for $10-15k and spend $5kish on a kit.

Got him into a 2014 IS250 number of years ago and you can't beat it tbh for that type of owner.

A mate of mine used to import crates of Jap performance wrecks and parts for selling as a side business. He bought an 2014 IS200 cheap from his contacts from a deceased estate. One owner, still had flare in the glove box. Most comfortable and accessorized factory car I've sat in and drove.

I had been looking at something for a family car that could tow an easy 2.0 tonnes and isnt a ute. I had been looking at A6 allroad wagons :

they are great looking and to drive, but have a dual clutch auto, which are cool and fast changing, but too expensive to fix if and when something goes on them. $5 to 10k!

I am liking 3.0 diesel VW AUDI Porsche engines, but think need a normal auto.

So took an SQ5 for a spin! Twin turbo 230kw 650nm ~5 seconds to a 100, really nice car and dont have to worry about gearboxes.

So well made and nice to drive and that torque is amazing! but too small for a growing family.

The other 3.0 v6 tdis are in Cayennes (but found them to be a bit tacky, too much plastic and seemed to date quickly (looking at ~5 or 6 year old ones), Audi Q7's seem to be just not that pretty inside, out they look ok. or Volkswagon Touaregs from 5 or so years ago.
They all have the same (if you dont get the cheap model Touareg) about the same power 180kw 550nmish. I found the Touareg just seems so well built and such a nice place to be! Tourque is great and can tow a huge 3500, so got one with air suspension. LOVE IT! 7.5 to 100, which is heaps fast for 2.2tonnes!

You can get them in v8 TDI with 250kw and 800 nm if you want, 5 seconds to 100

Cant think of a better car to be honest.

If it were me choosing, I would go the V8 Touareg. They are well equipped even as an older model and are very capable off road. Towing would be a breeze and I have read the economy is surprisingly good for what it is. Plus I personally love the styling of them.

Yes they are a nice shape! Mine is a 2014 with just 75k km has 20 inch wheels , that surprisingly ride quite nicely, as the the sidewall is still quite tall. Also has adjustable dampers and air suspension that would help the ride. How good are the brakes on these things too! Big 4 Pot Brembos all round! V8 would be cool too, the gearboxs in all variants are the same and rated to ~1000nm, so the V6 even if towing 3500kg should never break a sweat/or cog. Hope it is reliable for many years :-)

I drive the R36 hard as it loves it. Doing that to a small capacity 86 could blow the motor and a big risk.

My cars always tested - Barra T 1, Probe 2 (Mazda engine), Honda Intergra 3. Mazda 3 isn't worth discussing as I hated it.

The weekender is cruise mode - yep a manual maybe better but I'm not sure.

We have the 2016 my , with the 180kw engine. It's a fine vehicle. In my opinion one of the best looking cars out there.

Love the Audi's. Prefer the S5 personally coz I want another V8 again. But they are a nice. Just be sure to do plenty of research on them and their reliability before handing over your coin.

Dad actually bought the A4 version (100K on road) so I've driven the equivalent hundreds of times (my Dad sold cheap to my sister in Melb).

Yes I'd prefer the S5 too mate! But at 20 for a second car this would stretch a bit let alone another 15. Plus daily fuel costs a lot lower (unless it goes bang of course)

It's 100ish K's full service history. All checks still definitely required I agree.
