All then put into a frame on the wall. The BMW 850 Is one of them. I'll never forget getting in one in showroom. Salesman knew we couldn't afford it but was Mum said he was happy to do it. Last edited by MercuryT; 18-06-2020 at 07:30 PM. |

That's what I'll be on the look out for. The fact that they are more unsuspecting and understated helps with purchase price to some degree. A lot dont realize how good these cars actually are. Plus having the reliability factor, its a big advantage over the German counter parts.

As I've posted before my Dad sold his Audi S Line (Euro options are ridiculous....) to get a Lexus. Audi nice car, like BMW etc. Lexus easily on same level and cheaper as it already has everything you want. So reliable. I'm sure the V8 Lexus a superb car as no drag type would never bought one. Toyota/Lexus have their name and reputation for a reason. My Brother bought a SRT Jeep. Feels a decade behind inside and out compared to Dad's Lexus of similar year. Sounds great, goes well, looks good........best I can offer in terms of quality as it's US crap really. Last edited by MercuryT; 18-06-2020 at 08:33 PM. |

A Datsun 120Y coupe, the other 38k on Fish & Chips. And when it comes time to pay for rego/insurance/servicing, I'll just pimp my Nanna out it in at the local RSL.

Or this........Toyota 86. I usually don't like them as soft engine but black on black with coilovers and 18s looks tougher......18K. (40,000ks)
Keen on this as can use as daily and keep R36 Wagon, for dogs etc, it's been excellent. The two could work well together. Last edited by MercuryT; 23-06-2020 at 09:17 PM. |

If you find a 928 manual then that would be my pick, auto for a weekend blaster..nah
86 is a good car essentially, if you boosted it (super or turbo doesnt matter) it would transform the opinion of them. Id be interested to drive one with a bit more grunt. You can pick a cheapy up for $10-15k and spend $5kish on a kit.

Going back to the posts re Lexus, agreed very nice toyotas can't deny it.
My old man afetr countless Euros and the ol mind set, I'll never buy Jap ate his words. Got him into a 2014 IS250 number of years ago and you can't beat it tbh for that type of owner. Reliable, has all the bells and whistles AND their Service is brilliant ! A mate has one of the V8's, tuned/exhaust it goes like a cut snake. I was very tempted buying one of the older low k models and do similar.

Dad has the Lexus RX350 - as per the above it's fantastically built and comfortable.
Not my interest but perfect for parents as easy to get into etc and to leisurely cruise in. |

I had been looking at something for a family car that could tow an easy 2.0 tonnes and isnt a ute. I had been looking at A6 allroad wagons :
https://cdn.filestackcontent.com/res...vCS4iK3FGO2nfk they are great looking and to drive, but have a dual clutch auto, which are cool and fast changing, but too expensive to fix if and when something goes on them. $5 to 10k! I am liking 3.0 diesel VW AUDI Porsche engines, but think need a normal auto. So took an SQ5 for a spin! Twin turbo 230kw 650nm ~5 seconds to a 100, really nice car and dont have to worry about gearboxes. http://https://edge.pxcrush.net/std/car/dealer/baa49925244f222916dac71fba9cc9df.jpg?width=900 So well made and nice to drive and that torque is amazing! but too small for a growing family. The other 3.0 v6 tdis are in Cayennes (but found them to be a bit tacky, too much plastic and seemed to date quickly (looking at ~5 or 6 year old ones), Audi Q7's seem to be just not that pretty inside, out they look ok. or Volkswagon Touaregs from 5 or so years ago. They all have the same (if you dont get the cheap model Touareg) about the same power 180kw 550nmish. I found the Touareg just seems so well built and such a nice place to be! Tourque is great and can tow a huge 3500, so got one with air suspension. LOVE IT! 7.5 to 100, which is heaps fast for 2.2tonnes! https://autotraderau-res.cloudinary....reg_Used_1.jpg You can get them in v8 TDI with 250kw and 800 nm if you want, 5 seconds to 100 Cant think of a better car to be honest. (actually, an A6 quattro sedan with the biturbo diesel has 230=kw and 650 nm and is 5 seconds to 100, that would be a good car also! as has a normal 8 speed auto, not dual clutch, were $130k new now a say 7 year old car is under 40k. only came in sedans here sadly) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OaCqukxcgU Last edited by EDManual; 24-06-2020 at 10:35 PM. |

Yes they are a nice shape! Mine is a 2014 with just 75k km has 20 inch wheels , that surprisingly ride quite nicely, as the the sidewall is still quite tall. Also has adjustable dampers and air suspension that would help the ride. How good are the brakes on these things too! Big 4 Pot Brembos all round! V8 would be cool too, the gearboxs in all variants are the same and rated to ~1000nm, so the V6 even if towing 3500kg should never break a sweat/or cog. Hope it is reliable for many years :-)

My cars always tested - Barra T 1, Probe 2 (Mazda engine), Honda Intergra 3. Mazda 3 isn't worth discussing as I hated it. The weekender is cruise mode - yep a manual maybe better but I'm not sure. |

How about a BMW 135i coupe. I'd consider an older one but repairs prices scared me off and lack of manual cars

I'm looking at this on weekend.
Audi A5 coupe. Darker silver like my old BA Turbo. Great colour imo. Pretty sure I'm in mid-life crisis.......ha Not just a crap hair dressers car - it's the 3.0 Turbo diesel. Quick and heaps of torque. Thoughts at 20 grand? Cool or uncool? |

Love the Audi's. Prefer the S5 personally coz I want another V8 again. But they are a nice. Just be sure to do plenty of research on them and their reliability before handing over your coin.

Yes I'd prefer the S5 too mate! But at 20 for a second car this would stretch a bit let alone another 15. Plus daily fuel costs a lot lower (unless it goes bang of course) It's 100ish K's full service history. All checks still definitely required I agree. |
