The best looking XR is the XR GT. How could anybody even consider the plastic fantastics?

How true,

the 1967 XR 289 High Performance V8, bronze(i think) with black stipes down the side. Some had a square centre in the rear tail lights. Yes the original and still the best. Prob why FORD went back to XR branding.

I went for the BA/BF as the all the rest just look old and outdated, especially the E series cars.

dont suppose that the BA and BF numbers are combined has anything to do with it...
i guess all 3 wouldnt be far from equal between EL, AU, BA and BF if the the votes were handed out model by model, as the EL is fighting alone, the AU's are split (series 1 and series 2), and the BA and BF are combined.

my vote... AU 2 all day. BA-BF just look to close to the taxi packs...

My dad's uncle has one (Owned it since new), but I've only ever seen it out driving once. What a shame, because they are a beautiful car.

Has to be the AU. Something to make them look completely different to their Forte/Futura counterparts. Kinda helped that the AU1 Forte was an ugly whale... compared to the AU2/3 XR Hammerhead

I had a AU3 XR6 with a racing body kit and 17" wheels in Venom Red. It was a real head turner, up to the day we traded it in (in Feb 07) for the Territory, so the AU2 gets my vote.

What the AU XRs have over the B-Series is that no matter how far away you are from the car there is no way youd mistake a Forte for an XR. But an XT for an XR...

Conservatively styled cars simply sell better than 'in your face ones' all XRs before the BA had that 'boy racer' enthusiast look about them. A more conservative approach and a standard 6 cylinder engine [for cheaper insurance and better fuel economy] has yielded greater sales. However great the 6T and 8 might be, the majority of BA-F XRs are poverty pack family cars (unfortunately). Gone is the wow factor, the 'look at me' boy racer XR. =(

I saw a mint Chilli Red AU1 XR8 at the Ford Discovery Centre the other day and it was simply a jaw dropping car, what an incredible flowing shape (love the S1 bi-plane spoiler) While the AU2 isnt as cohesive its still a mean looking ride.

AU XRs (series 1 and 2) simply the most unique (and best) looking XRs to date.

Never been a fan of the AU generally, but the AU XR8's are my pick...The BA/BF's are nice but there's so many around the place they aren't as unique as the AU.

The XR AU's are so vastly different from the other AU variants....(Forte/Fairmont)

EF/EL XR's ain't bad either but AU's my pick

id have to go with AU 2/3 but i just love the look of the BF XR8 with the bonnet bulge, hard to chose, but IMO the BA lacks the distinctive difference over their base model brothers that the AU series has.

I used to HATE the way the headlights on the AU XR's looked compared to the normal AU's.

However, now that I own a standard AU, the XR has really grown on me and I'm kinda spewing I don't actually have an XR myself!!!

The TS50 looks heaps better than an XR AU. There is potential in an AU front.

Plastic Fantastic hey, compared to today's cars, the AU certainly is far better
I agree with falzoony, the BF's do have a tougher look
I don't think much of T Series fronts, series III XR front is the best of the lot.

For the record we have an AU2 XR and LOVE the fantastic plastic! Check my signature- BI-Plane spoiler, twice as much plastic! lol

I prefer the BA XR front to the BF, it looks a little classier.
