Depend's on what sort of car you got IMO.For instance if i had a bog stock 4.0(and i have) then 5 speed for me.Stock V8 tick manual,Modified V8 making good number's then auto with good shift kit would be my pick.Sport's car tick manual aswell.

I have yet to own an auto. Even in traffic, I'd prefer a manual.

Prefer the manual box, especially in a sports vehicle. The problem with the BA manual is that it limits you to towing 1.6 tonnes where as the auto lets you haul 2.3. Not that I do a lot of towing but when I pull the 'restoration' around on a tandem I have to be carefull not to overweight it.

I like auto's as chirps at over 100 are cool, and you can go through the gears in a burnout or doughies. You also do not have to get off the throttle down the quarter, and once set up ( shift kit, trans cooler) can get fast 60 foot times with the right stall. They also last for ages with little maintnence, while the cluthes in the manuals don't seem to last too long. I have a manual here but dont want to blow a diff dropping the clutch at the drags. The manuals can be harsh on drivelines.

Torque multication :> somthing manual drivers know nothing about :> ... And sliping the clutch in a manual makes them last SOOOOOOOOOOO long...
Big deal manuals are good for twisty roads, im sure ed clutches and broken cables, and cracked firewalls are fun 2 |

Whoa thats a huge stall injected 250!
The first 60feet should feel nice! Do TCE offer reasonable prices? I've heard good things about their convertors. I need a 4000rpm stall for my BTR!!! |

Not enough choices in the Poll..
Big family car Auto only way to go. But I also own smaller cars and I would never own a 4 pot auto. I love my 6 speed auto and I love my 6 speed manual...

ESP has stage 2 C10 auto with 2300 stall.
It's an auto and I drive it like a manual cos I like to pick the gear I'm in. I also like the fact that it kicks butt on the drag strip and I can eat my pie and sip my coke whilst driving back from Calder......

The Wagon has a warm 351.With all brand new goodies she is pumping out way tooooo many ponies.I found converting from a dodgy old toploader to a tricked FMX with a shift kit works perfect for all occasions without smelly shuddering clutch plates. Not much can keep up to the XY off the lights.Just those freezing cold mornings and those flat batteries make you wish it was manual again ,if only for 5 minutes.

I gotta go with "Manual" I had 7 of them before my first Auto in 1980 , & have just given away my XF Manual wagon . My XB is Auto
The wife's ED Fairmont is Auto but all her other cars were manual , (4 of them) , but then again , she's the "rev-head" of the family :eclipsee_ Both daughters Lasers are 5 sp manual.
