To claim the miami sounds wimpier than the "3.9L I6"??? indicates we are being trolled.

Probably best not to feed it.

lol I wasn't kidding. Those 3.9's have lumps. Why do the new 8's have that 8 sound but sound like they're ripping it up in a tin can? New V8's sound like old V8's but through a set of headphones 1ft away from your ear. Had an EF Xr8 with 3k difilipo exhaust on it myself, while it would sound cool it sounds and have a throaty sound it was dried up with no absolutely presence.

What happened that underlying, bone shaking bass that fills the air?? They're weak as ****.

Yes, a larger pushrod style V8 is always going to sound better than a smaller DOHC V8 but I would hardly go comparing them to a straight 6 !!

And um, you might wanna read the thread title mate, waaaay off topic !

yes those 2 marginalizing bogans really are quite despicable.

I'd say that's not the point of a GT though my factory EB gli was quicker than a factory 351 GT. It's when it has stripes/spoilers/rims etc and sounds like a 4 when it's pulls up at the lights next to you. I guess I feel these type of v8's belong in the rice category.

True they should've kept it that way! So that's why the modern LS motors still managed to keep that sound? Because it's specifically the pushrods responsible for making up that part of the note? I never knew that!

All I'm saying is the 351 ricer badge is a joke but it seems some people are too touchy and can't hack anything.

I thought I put up a very good argument.

I've read the latest posts in this thread and I can't work out what the argument is about....
I do find it funny that members are claiming the 351 badge shouldn't be used because output power isn't static... does it really matter?
To be fair, the car puts out substantially more than 351kW, hence what this thread is actually about.

Relax people. Everyone has a right to their opinions. So ILLaViTaR doesnt rate the new GTF. Thats ok. He can go buy himself an old skool V8 and enjoy it. Thats why we all have choice. If he bags it, thats fine. Just let him be. It makes no difference to me about the 351 number anyway. I just want the two letters before all of the rest!

Charliewool, No GTF owner is going to be upset that their car isnt going to sound like an old skool V8 or that someone said its not a real GT. We know what we ordered, we know what we're getting. And just because someone bags the car, its water off a ducks back. Its what I've always wanted and will have. And no, I dont want an old skool V8 with the lack of safety and reliability. Whether people think of its as a real GT or not has little to do with anything.

Anyway, the 351 has been shown to be a sticker anyway, with the motor putting out much more.

If people want to know the reason behind the difference in noise between old and new V8s, refer to ADR and EURO specifications for said years and compare.

What i'm going to do now is, i'm going to close this thread. When i re-open it a little later there's to be no faeces throwing going on, and no trolling, or people are going to start being banned. There will be no warnings, this is the warning. Read this post very carefully before you continue posting.

So back to RWKW, there's a lot of assumption regarding fixed mechanical losses, so which is more correct; FWKW = RWKW/0.75 or RWKW/0.85????

A great result for Ford I reckon. Something to give the Holden fanboys a bit of curry over.

It will be interesting for sure to see what the Ford specific tuners get out of these magnificent engines.

I had the pleasure last week of driving a GT-E owned by a good mate. It was absolutely sensational.

Our Ford's are between 18-20% but the GTS maybe as high as 25% because of the beefed-up power train.

Mustangs (live axle) average around 12-15% so there are a lot variations based on driveline layout..

Have also heard that high horsepower cars usually have less driveline losses.
