2011 Ford Falcon Series 2 Spy Photos

Our spy photographer has snapped photos of the 2011 Ford Falcon Series 2.
Although the photos were taken from a distance, it’s quite clear that the car-bra clad Falcon is hiding a front-end minor restyle.

Judging by the lack of car-bra at the rear of the vehicle, it’s likely that it’s only the front that will receive the remodel.

The second shot shows what looks like slightly more flare on the front wheel arches.

Pavle.com.au will keep you posted as more information comes to hand. At this stage, the Series 2 of the FG Falcon is likely to be released close to the end of the year to coincide with the release of the EcoBoost engine range.

Ford need new designers.. Why front flares.. not another VE =_=. Rear end is looking very dated now. Why can't taillights have a nice redesign (vertical pattern ala mustang instead of horizontal perhaps) or put some lights on the boot garnish.

Sincerely hope they stop making those ridiculous Altezza style tail lights and just put the G6 tail lights on all models - especially considering the 'black' FPV has them as well as the XR50/G6ET50 cars.

I have little doubt that the front-end will be very similar to the new Territory - a car which does stand out now, but still quite a bold new look.

Just remember guys, that if the Falcon was to receive new tail lights in the update, it's not something they would need to test out in the open. Stuff like that is usually a fit and finish issue which is of course done inside. However, with the metal skin not changing in anyway, we might not see any unmasked mules until the day before launch?

I have been told by a good source that there's one in Melbourne but will remain out of sight for a couple of weeks...

On topic,

For a while I've been wondering what Ford could do about the XT, it's such a shame that the car wears the ugly duckling tag
but now that Ford has improved equipment levels and given it alloy wheels, all that remains is to fix that plain Jane nose.

If FG II is getting a Territory style make over at the front, then there's a great opportunity to relaunch XT, XR and G Series
with great front ends that are attractive, well styled and distinctive enough to give each a completely different look.

If Ford can pull that off, they may well be able to resurrect the XT (maybe a new name) as another model that people want,
allowing XR and G to sneak up a rung so Ford can ask a little more, perhaps with standard leather or some such feature...

I'm liking this front on the SZ Territory, perhaps the proportions on a Falcon would look completely different
but looks like the top edge of the bonnet and head light surround is carried slightly higher...

With heavy discounts already in force and the cars not selling that well, I highly doubt many people would want to pay more for a new Falcon (whatever trim level).

The XT should die a nice death and the G6 should become the new base model. It's a no-brainer when the prices are similar and the XT is just a waste of money (slightly different tail lights etc) - during a time where Ford enjoys saving 5 cents off each car to omit certain features, it's a good idea to get rid of that model.

Personally I think the XT should be ditched, the G6 made the entry level model and the overall feature spec raised. For example, colour ICC and dual zone climate, rear parking sensors as base spec. Tri-zone climate, touch screen ICC and voice control for the high series.

Default Re: FG Series II, When?

What Ford and Holden have done is effectively undermine the value of their mid series vehicles
by turning them into fleet hacks and discount specials instead of using the likes of XT SR for that duty.
While it's great for us buyers to be able to access great packages in falcons (some with leather) for around $36K,
that strategy ultimately fails as we're seeing at the moment, XT is used up and XR/G series is almost the same.
Continue that policy of burning up models and we'll have G6E and XR6T for $36,990 drive away and XT/XR/G all unsellable.....

Welcome change that FG II will have new noses, something to give Falcon another fresh start with buyers,
a new face on XT, XR and G Series will enable Ford to reset perceived values again.

It's easy to say XT should die but what if it was given a new distinctive nose that people liked?
Surely, that would have a positive impact on its sales and appeal with private buyers, fleets too
because of the fresh look and better resale value. The knock on effect to XR/G serious is obvious.....

Let's wait and see what Ford has to offer before consigning XT to history....

Fleets wont buy XT regardless of what you do to them.

XR6 is a much better proposition due to resale.

I have to say, I hope suede/velour is always available on the lower models as leather is not a good material at all (especially in Australia).

Cold, hot, burns, cracks etc. I'm glad you can get the suede material covering the whole seat on FPVs - though too many people tick the full leather option.

What makes you think XR has a better resale value? I might even go out on a limb as say it would be worse resale for XR seeing as it is know the fleet model, especially with rental companies!!

I think it is time to dig the whole XR name (only stds for base/fleet model anyway these days) & start fresh with new names.. Focus ones would work to keep everything the same at Ford

In my 32 years of owning Fords I have had four with leather, never a problem as long as you look after them.

That's your opinion.,

Ford just got caught with a whole bunch of XR6s they couldn't shift unless they cut the price to $32,990 drive away...
What do you think that will do to the resale value of XR6s in a few years time?

Will anyone care?

EB should be a good alternative to the I6 and a good prospect for fleets (along with LPi). FGII is going to be an interesting time for the Falcon....hopefully a good one.

I would say the touch screen will be there (not sure if it'll be on the base model). Would be stupid if they didn't.
