Thing is, if the dollar was still around parity we'd be paying probably around $1.05 per litre. I'd love to fill my ute for around $80...!

History shows there's no real connection between the value of our dollar and the fuel price, although the media will lead you to believe otherwise. Fuel has been cheaper in the past when the AUD has been worth less. The same people that say you're lucky fuel isn't more expensive due to the value of the dollar are the exact same people who predicted $2.00 per litre by the end of 2014, or by the end of 2013, or 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, and 2008....

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but I read/ heard somewhere that the low prices are a result of the US and other nations driving down the petrol price to destroy the Russian Ruble, which is currently worth 0.021 AUD and is dropping further.

Be happy & grateful that you're receiving some sort of fuel discount.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
Is a gripe but at the same time just a statement.
Before the price of oil dropped Brisbane was paying around $1.39 p/l when the price wars were at their lows on a weekly basis.
Now that the oil prices have been dropping the pump price has only dropped around 15c p/l.
Yes better than nothing but could you explain why all the other states have dropped around 10c more than Brisbane.?
Would appreciate an answer that will make all Brisbane people understand why we should be happy with this. Up to you.

Haven't seen 110 c/L yet, but just passed our local APCO and unleaded was 113.9 c/L, Diesel was 124.9 c/L and LPG 61.9 c/L cheapest I've seen around Geelong so far this week...

Filled up BP 98 for $1.299 on Rookwood Rd, awesome! 91 was $1.119. Wasn't long ago when I thought $1.45 for 91 was cheap.

LOL, and here's me thinking that our 98 going down down to $1.56 was great )

It's $113.9 around here.

A new Shell opened and letter-dropped a booklet with 6 x "10 cents off per litre" vouchers. That's really nice.

Canberra: standard ULP at every servo in every suburb is 139.9/litre, except for Costco Petrol (which opened 3 weeks ago)at 117.9/l; one Woolies station across the road from them price matches with a discount docket but only while the Costco store is open, then they raise their price overnight til the next morning.

Considering Coles has full page ads in the Sydney Daily Tele promoting ULP capped at a maximum of 114.0 for the next 2 weeks (cheaper with a docket or instore purchase), I struggle to believe it costs 25c/l for transport down the road! Canberra usually averaged around 5-8 c/l more up until earlier this year, now it is just criminal - especially when (ironically enough) the cost of fuel for transport has dropped too!

The thing that gets me is the gap between 91 (inc E10) and 98 - back when the 91 price was around $1.15 there would be a gap of no more than 13c. Local's E10 price was $1.11 today, 98 was $1.32 :/

Ms lunch said she filled up with premium last week for high $1.20s (Safeway), same suburb different servo the following day it cost me $1.43 (7-11) i knew before i got to that particular servo that they would still be expensive, not too long ago i was paying $1.60 for premium which doesnt bother me providing thats the standard, what really sheets me is when you get that 1 servo that holds their price high when all others have dropped theirs.. I know, i hear ya saying 'just go to a different servo' but when its the only 1 on the way to work (without taking a fair detour) its kinda hard..
Sorry if im a little off topic

I started reading your thread and saw "Ms Lunch" and thought, what a great arrangement, then I saw your username.

Anyhoo, I understand the sand dune oil producers are trying to drive the price down to break the back of US self sufficiency.

It is all a crock anyway, if you compare the triangle of Singapore crude/$US/$AUD retail when the $AUD was at $US0.60 and now, we should be paying $0.80 per litre.

$1.10 in Geelong, $1.35 in Hobart, $1.50 in Darwin, it is all just a scam. The wholesalers and those damned supermarkets are to blame. Too much power, too little conscience.

That & a consumer watch dog (ACCC)that is nothing more than a puppet for the government that benefits from taxes on higher fuel prices.
