To claim the miami sounds wimpier than the "3.9L I6"??? indicates we are being trolled.
Probably best not to feed it.

(Lets remember the F6/GT owners run mid 12s but official magazines quote low to mid 13s, these Aurions are also quicker than they appear). Id bet if I were driving a Toyota Aurion bone stock, I would punch past a stock 1970s 351 GT down the quarter mile....any takers? Last edited by HULK_I6T; 16-07-2014 at 04:13 PM. |

yes those 2 marginalizing bogans really are quite despicable.
I'd say that's not the point of a GT though my factory EB gli was quicker than a factory 351 GT. It's when it has stripes/spoilers/rims etc and sounds like a 4 when it's pulls up at the lights next to you. I guess I feel these type of v8's belong in the rice category.

True they should've kept it that way! So that's why the modern LS motors still managed to keep that sound? Because it's specifically the pushrods responsible for making up that part of the note? I never knew that!

I've read the latest posts in this thread and I can't work out what the argument is about....
I do find it funny that members are claiming the 351 badge shouldn't be used because output power isn't static... does it really matter? To be fair, the car puts out substantially more than 351kW, hence what this thread is actually about.

Charliewool, No GTF owner is going to be upset that their car isnt going to sound like an old skool V8 or that someone said its not a real GT. We know what we ordered, we know what we're getting. And just because someone bags the car, its water off a ducks back. Its what I've always wanted and will have. And no, I dont want an old skool V8 with the lack of safety and reliability. Whether people think of its as a real GT or not has little to do with anything. Anyway, the 351 has been shown to be a sticker anyway, with the motor putting out much more.

If people want to know the reason behind the difference in noise between old and new V8s, refer to ADR and EURO specifications for said years and compare.
What i'm going to do now is, i'm going to close this thread. When i re-open it a little later there's to be no faeces throwing going on, and no trolling, or people are going to start being banned. There will be no warnings, this is the warning. Read this post very carefully before you continue posting.

So back to RWKW, there's a lot of assumption regarding fixed mechanical losses, so which is more correct; FWKW = RWKW/0.75 or RWKW/0.85????

A great result for Ford I reckon. Something to give the Holden fanboys a bit of curry over.
It will be interesting for sure to see what the Ford specific tuners get out of these magnificent engines. I had the pleasure last week of driving a GT-E owned by a good mate. It was absolutely sensational. GK

Mustangs (live axle) average around 12-15% so there are a lot variations based on driveline layout.. Have also heard that high horsepower cars usually have less driveline losses.
