2nd hand pricing on the last Holdens and Fords has been very robust in Covid, V8 versions and the last turbo 6's are asking more now than when they were retail.

I had a look, NL Pajero. I'm considering a second hand Pajero, so good to know which ones to avoid. There's a couple in dealerships still listed on carsales. I'm guessing they weren't offered as much as old mate on the radio and are hoping to screw over a buyer.

These parasitic opportunists are so far off the mark they are worse than Time Wasters - as they try to exploit what could be people on hard times, or not commercially savvy. I always "Qualify" or check on their financial expectations before showing them the car (I later sold it for over $50k) Last edited by stevefreestyle; 22-12-2020 at 07:17 PM. |

Sold my wife’s Territory a couple of years ago
First up listed it for the “recommended “ price suggested by carsales (which I thought was too much) = no offers. Reduced if over a couple of weeks to what I thought was reasonable ( mind you I had plenty of punters emailing me ridiculous offers ) One day I get a call from a bloke who wants to buy it, he comes around to look at it and offers me a lowball driveway price - I say no An hour later get a call from a lady who’s interested - she come by and has a look, offers me full asking price (thank you) and picks it up a few days later Secret that I have learned selling cars is price it realistically and don’t be in a rush to sell it

Add caravans to that list. Before Covid you could get something decent and used for $10-12K...
Just did a search - nothing decent within 200km from me below $20k...

I did my once in a blue car search today and the LS3s are going strong, a lot in the 60-70k range.
I noticed a lot more FG-X XR8s coming up at pretty good prices too. I want to drive my WRX into the ground and then pick up a V8 but the way it is going, these Aussie cars are just going to keep going up before that happens. |

Its deeply ironic that when Ford made Falcons here, i had other financial priorities.
Four years after manufacturing ceased and falcon affordability is still an issue, unless i go early b series and lots of repair work. Fgx prices are approaching what they sold for when new....!! If nothing changes, the better option may end up to buy a new car and drive it into the ground.... I just wanted a ute...and at the moment thats looking unlikely.

I was looking at rtv and xl utes, but with covid the low mileage ones have gone to ground, and the higher mileage ones are way up in price. Thousands for b series cars, fg and fgx. The splashing of covid cash has seriously disrupted valuations. And i suspect the splashing has a way to go. So used car prices might be weird for some time to come.

Is it (still?) a good time to get rid of my Brocksport 850 wagon? I’d forgotten about it in the context of silly COVID prices.

Listed sale prices are high but not sure how many are changing hands at those prices - plenty of speculators looking to cash in but plenty not taking the bait as well. See plenty of FPV's for sale with very high KLM and lacking service history. Russian roulette.. much

i flogged my boat for covid prices, sold for 3 times what i paid 2 years ago. bought a replacement for alot less and plan to buy the same type back in a year or 2 when prices settle. i couldn't say no to money waving me in the face.
fast and/or fun things have gone through the roof while boring stuff is cheaper If only Ford Territory's had covid prices they seem to be getting cheaper as they are on the boring list

Mate sold his 2012 Collorado for more than 50% of the price he paid for it when it was new. Unbelievable.

I'm not sure why LWB cars are worth less than their povvo counterparts, you get more car for less money and nicer interior in exchange for looking like you drive from Melbourne CBD to Melbourne Airport for a living |

Young bloke i work with did a similar deal. Pricing has gone mad. He decided to build a house and needed the cash.

On ABC news last night(9/2/21) Alan Kholer(business news) used vehicles have risen a further 4%.He was saying this could also be due in part to a lot of expats returning home & needing a vehicle.

Correct ! A lot think Cash is a benefit to the seller - no longer the case. Cash is actually a NEGATIVE as it is an inconvenience as you have to go and bank it and possibly explain if over $10K.
