If I wasn't buying a Mk II GT, which I am, it would be a no-brainer if the final Falcon looks like those Black renditions .. The Mustang would not have a chance. FALCON Rules!

The XR8 ad came out in 1997, when the VT was out.
EL XR8 185 was quicker than a VT SS. Anyway, enough talk about 17yo shitboxes, bring on the FH XR8

Still think that should have been the FG11. They missed that opportunity :(

Stock 12yr old car at the time on slipping original clutch, dodgy old tyres at a hot old QLD drag strip. My trap speed and crap 60ft says there was more in it. I have the old wheels mag that did the original comparo and it lists the EL1 XR8 as 15.54 @ 145km/h, & VS2 SS as 15.27 @151.1. *EDIT* 0-100 was 7.62 not 8.1 for Falcon & 7.34 not 6.9 for Commodore. The problem with 90s Holdens is the more they rattle the faster their owners think they actually are. Standard they're slow.

Damn, if the current renders are close to the mark it's going to make me regret picking up my Evo X last weekend, well.. until I took it home. Just got sick of shoehorning my F6 diagonally into my garage. I spent many high school classes dreaming about a supercharged V8 in the 80's, wanted to fulfil that dream.. instead went the ricer route. :\
Will be very interested in the Mustang dimensions, though. |

I don't think it's actually a different bar- those brake ducts overlay the the original bumper by the looks...

Those brake ducts on the Black are definitely ducts. I posted photos of them that I took at the Melbourne Motor Show back when it was shown.

Yep, got me f'd why we never saw those ducts on a factory FPV...even some DRL's (dare I say it) above the main duct to replace the driving lights would have worked, perfect FG MK2 visual upgrade.

Looking at that picture, the ducts just look like inserts. Surely Fibresports could come up with an insert and owners trim their bar to put them in. Pretty horrific chopping up an FPV bar but some would I am sure.

I did price up the rims from Prodrive last year and they were around $1200 each before shipping from Japan. I also wasn't confident with the range of standard offsets available. I think Prodrive had them custom made for the "Black" concept.

Suppose if they removed the (legally used like .... never) fog lights and replaced them with ducts, there would be some that would cry foul because they don't have fog lights ........ that they would never use/

Strangely that doesn't quite work for me like the earlier version or indeed the black one. It looks like the front has just been literally chopped off something else and screwed on. For me the grill a little too small and the holes around the driving lights proportionally too big. Just my opinion of course.
