The instructions said 6ml (IIRC) per litre of water for kikuyu. Other weed types were 11ml. Not knowing exactly what I was dealing with, I went for 55ml in my 5l sprayer. By the time I measured it out and tipped it in, it was probs more like 60ml. So reasonably potent. Time will tell.

When I do it...... pop the pump out of the spray pack, slurp of syrup straight into the bottle, fill it with water and get to spraying! We're as bad as each other, just in different ways.

Tomorrow, I have a job cutting down a small Camphor Laurel that sprouted and grew unnoticed between two large shrubs sitting under an established Gleditsia.
But the conundrum is, which of these four do I use?

Oh wow..... the MS271 and the battery jobby dont do much for me, but your 038 is in beautiful condition, and that 009L......
my 032, and both 026's look like junkyard rescues in comparison! My 010 and MS170 are both rescues from people who shouldnt be allowed near anything more technologically advanced than an unsharpened pencil, hence why both only needed a clean to look near new...... I just wish I could figure out why my 009 doesnt want to play ball. Btw, hop on ebay and get a spare oiler diaphragm for the 009 while theyre still available.

Do I really need to resurrect my ProMac 850?

Well, it was the 028AV Super that got the job today..................
I have only used this on a couple of test logs before today and was impressed then, and even more impressed after today. What an awesome little saw! It's also very well balanced and fits me very well. So happy I have this saw in my care. And yes, it was run load and proud!

Had to swap to the 009L for the larger sections, the MSA120 lacks the stamina for longer running. Just wish I had either the 271 or 028 for that job, would have been much easier!

Thats a yes from me
I've got an old Stihl 038 somewhere in the shed, after seeing DFB's 028 resurrection I think its about time to dig it out and take it on as a winter project. Not sure what I'll do with it afterwards, maybe take it into work as my personal saw.

The old express van has been complaining of late, with money spent on repairs, it still needs more done, and it’s still an uncomfortable sh box. So I’ve hit the bullet and bought a 2019 LDV G10 2.4 mitsi non turbo manual with only 35k km.
My accountant is happy with the proximity to EOFY, but I still can’t think of a car purchase in business terms, with depreciation, getting gst back etc etc. I had looked at hiaces with 300k for $25k that were older than my existing van and just couldn’t do it. The van will be picked up later in the week 4.5hrs away, and the express needs to be driven there to trade it in (got back basically what I paid for it 3.5years ago), unfortunately the last 2 times it hit the highway, the ac compressor bolts snapped off from the vibration, making a hell of a racket, wish me luck for that drive. The challenge with the Ldvs is finding one without rust, this one is spotless, hopefully it doesn’t break my heart.

Have they changed the footwell in the g10 since the early 2013 model? One major dislike of mine test driving back then was there was nowhere to put your left foot once off the clutch.

I have thought about a van a couple of times, but I hate trailers so would miss having the large open tray.

I take the trailer only if I need it, it’s much more convenient to get in and out of tight inner city streets without a trailer. A van is awesome, all your gear is locked safely away from the weather and the local meth heads bony thieving fingers.

How do you go with fumes from the equipment and grass clippings in the cabin?

My dream build would be a tray that was extendable by 500-600mm like many dining tables, and a high framed canvas canopy that covered about half its length. Most of the time I’d leave the tray short and canopy sides rolled up but for inclement weather they could be dropped down, and for bulky green waste loads the tray would be extended.

I don’t routinely carry bags of grass in the back, most of my lawns have greenwaste bins on-site. The odd occasion I do have a bag or 2, it gets dumped on the way home, I wouldn’t leave them in overnight to sweat and stink up the interior. Edit-I am getting a Hayman Reece Towbar fitted the week after pickup, it will have a smarty pants lockout for the rear parking sensors when the trailer is plugged in.

So, they are paying rates on a bin that they don't use because they want it to stay clean.

The only must do's in my book for vans, after the safety cage is rear floor coverage and lighting. Rear floor coverage is for no greater reason then sound deadening. So if theres no factory rubber mat (l300s didnt have that) then clark rubbers the place to go. And lighting in the back. Ive never come across a stock van with anything more then poxy lighting in the back. A strip of 12v LEDs stuck around the perimeter of the roof dodgey wired into the factory light fixes that.

New-gen Ranger XL Single Cab Chassis - I would stay single cab chassis as it offers the biggest tray, has vinyl flooring and steel wheels for ease of cleaning. Race Red - This has no functional bearing, but I want a red Ranger. Ford don't offer red at the moment on the new Ranger. Failing that, Blue Lightning would be the next choice. 3.0 PowerStroke V6, 10 speed auto, 2wd - This spec in a XL SCC is pure fantasy, what can I say, I like a big engine. I'm also sick of rowing gears in my current Ranger. Low Rider - Again fantasy, Ford deleted the low-rider suspension on all new-gen Rangers. I don't need or want high rider suspension. It makes it harder to load my mowers and hampers the driving dynamics.............and I don't need to sit up high with the soccer mums with a superiority complex. Steel tray - I love the hammer tone powder coat on my current tray, but I would add another two underbed toolboxes. Currently, I have a pull-out drawer for longer tools and two underbed tool boxes, all lockable. These allow me to keep hand tools and irrigation parts in the vehicle at all times, without compromising the cargo area. I would also love some sort of integrated ramp setup to allow easy and convenient loading of my mowers. (Self propelled mowers are too heavy to lift). Not sure something like this exists, but it would save a lot of mucking around. I don't ask for much..................................

danzvtil, where do you drop your clippings? SA composters Lonsdale by any chance. IWhen I was doing lawn mowing as an independant I had an unsavory time with 2 of Jims mowing boys and 3 weeks later had all my gear stolen.

Mr B, what brand are those leaf mitts in your drawer? They look really sturdy.
Not sure I’d choose a red ute, ever, but a dusky pink (“Mary Kay Pink” like the Cadillacs) for sure. Nobody would ask to borrow it, in fear of having their masculinity questioned. |

I quote a full green waste bale bag of $24 to take away full or not. That usually sways them to dispose of on site. Quote:

I don’t get how territorial lawnies can be, it’s not my problem you pay jim penman for “exclusive” territory rights, you’re only exclusive with other Jims not everyone. If I do a better job than you, then I get the business, that’s the free market at work.
