The XR8 is probably getting a new exhaust due to the new Noise limit laws...

The BASE V8 gets 230 Kw.

As for the wheels, yes MrSparkle they are the new optional 18s which are standard on XR8 Sedan and Ute.

Yeap. Looks like a Commodore and a Falcon had a prang and the smash repairer mixed up the parts. Can only assume the new Calais is doing well with its new look and Ford have decided to copy it. They are going after the same customer after all.

Yes...

I was off the mark the other day with my predictions however.

I think they could have been room for some spec upgrades like Sound etc thru some models, in particular side airbags on all XR's...

Also dissapointed with headlights not getting atleast HID.

I second that.

Many people were talking about no engine power increases at all so this is positive especially considering some of the torque increases.

The XR8 is a problem though, nothing new in BA Guise.

On one hand the base V8 has the same torque on the other it can’t encroach on the F6 which is only just getting going. I would be very surprised if there isn't a torque increase for the Xr8. (Edit stans corrected XR8 is certainly listed as untouched)

As the XT is Fords bread and butter so is the GT to FPV. Its competition is already ahead in away the 182 barra wasn't being challenged so to not touch the 290 units would be a very odd move. Let’s put it this way- this release should give more hope then not I would have thought. I thought there was two version of the A6 as far as torque limits are concerned. I thinks that might be the clue ;)

which is quite good as touque is very important, yet it keeps the power increase under the radar, as not many people look at tourque ratings, so poeple cant complain about too much power

FB Facts:
Quote:
Ford Australia President Tom Gorman today revealed details of the new Falcon and Territory range, which are due to go on sale at the end of October.

"The new BF Falcon and SY Territory models incorporate a host of changes aimed at delivering even more driving enjoyment and fuel economy advantages to our valued customers.

"Every Falcon and Territory owner will appreciate the noticeable improvements in performance, refinement and fuel economy in the petrol engines.

"Today we revealed changes to the look of the BF Falcon and upgrades to the engines and transmissions powering the Falcon and Territory range. These upgrades will ensure that Falcon and Territory remain at the technological forefront of Australian-made vehicles.

"Importantly, all the improvements we've made have been driven by customer feedback and have a real world application that drivers will notice and appreciate," Mr Gorman said.

Upgrades to the BF Falcon and SY Territory range include:

* A reworked Barra 190 4.0-litre six-cylinder engine offering significant increases in fuel economy, more refinement and increases in power and torque
* More power and torque in the turbocharged engine for the Falcon XR
* More power and torque in the 3-valve SOHC V8 engine
* A world-class ZF six-speed automatic transmission available in premium Falcon sedans and utes, and AWD versions of Territory
* An improved ION four-speed automatic transmission
* Introduction of the Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission on XR6 sedan
* New exterior styling for the Falcon range, including Fairlane and Falcon Ute
* New interior upgrades for all models
* New wheel designs for XT, Futura, Fairmont, Fairmont Ghia, XR and XLS
* New Fairlane G8 (replacing Fairlane G220)

"The changes we've announced today signal another exciting step forward for our local product range," said Mr Gorman.

"There are other details of the new Falcon and Territory program that we'll be revealing as we get closer to the launch.

"The key overriding principle behind all of them however is their customer-driven focus and user-friendly application.

"When combined with the world-class engines and transmissions we've announced today, these further changes will keep Falcon and Territory at the forefront of local automotive engineering and deliver real benefits for every Ford customer."

A little birdy (with a beard) reckoned the BOSSs were getting "a bee's dick more power" but 'coppery' receives a huge improvement in handling.

Interesting stuff. I still prefer the GT bar over the new XR one, and is it just me or does that XR8's bulge look more like the original version?

I can't really say I want a BF. I did then people asked me if I was really gay.

I guess in the coming years people will take their BF's away for the weekend, maybe send their BF's for a wash and detail. Perhaps there might be a BF club??

How cool does the fantasy paint sound!
That would have to be a first of offering a chamelion paint from factory??? for anyone?
Wonder if it costs more?

There will be a reason that FPV are waiting to release details of their range, and i'm sure it will more than just to have something to say.

New exhaust is the only obvious thing we know has been changed, this alone will certainly have an affect on power, as will new calibrations and the new auto. They will definitely be quicker and i'd say have more torque.

The thing I like is the reletively low cost 6 speed auto option. $1500 - $1800 price hike over manual for models that can have the 6 speed.

Was in the other thread.

It does sound interesting! There was a guy on the forums who works/worked for PPG and he said that such a paint was coming; looks like his not full of it.

Comparing the BF xr to my BA xr, and i'm sorry, but i prefer the clean lines on the front bar, its simple and pretty, the BF looks like the bar design got turned upside down and those horrible flutes added near the fog lamps.

It still looks to me like the XR8 is sitting on 17's not 18's.

Heres the BF ute,

My BA Xr6 Ute,

And what i think the BF ute should look like.

(perhaps with different wheels!)

The wheels on that picture of the XR8 ute it is sitting on 17", but the other picture its on different wheels, which are the new 18" wheels. That colour doesn't do any car justice, so i will wait until i see it in the flesh before i comment.
I hope that FPV do a proper job, and that they give us a slight power upgrade, because i think we need it.

regarding the model naming - BF. BC could have worked. You've got Better than Commodore or Before Commodore - stating the Falcon's been around for longer and will outlast the Commodore as well
