And it was closer to $40k but who's counting. At least we bought the car we wanted and the one with the best kit... Not something that was cheaper and then try to justify it like many do.

If I recall right you used to work in a Toy dealership ? If so you'd have some idea of inside dealer goss on margins. May has in the top 10 Hilux Rav4 LC Prado Corolla Without knowing the model mix's for that an important one but what would you think is the general rule of thumb of margins above ? pretty hard I expect due to extras invloved etc but maybe too hard to get a good idea, anyone else can contribute. Margins are one thing then to consider the incurring costs in relation to revenue.

Id say Hilux would carry the same margins as Ranger like for like, Prado as Everest, LC goes without saying, Rav the same. Those 4 soft/off roaders account for 10k sales per month, twice as much as Fords total sales and 60% more than Fords suggested high margin Ranger, Everest and Mustang. |

ah ok long time ago.
Actually from my rough count Toys units last month was around 15k + from the above list. Look I have no doubt they are doing fine but Ford have far less expenditure today and doing fine I'm sure as well, I think that what most are meaning and as I said, less is more in the big picture.

Thats the difference between Ford and Toyota and even Holden/GM, Ford chase profits and dont care if they have what you want, Toyota just give the punter choice which they fund from weight of numbers and Holden gave bragging rights even if it meant bankruptcy. As im not a bean counter or shareholder, i know what id prefer. |

I know for a fact Ford won't let one division stay in the red to prop up another, each region is expected to run as a profit centre..wether they do is another story but it's a different structure to how Toyota go about it. |

That boxier shape is exactly what I’ve thought the Everest needs to better compete with Prado, they don’t need to go overboard with styling changes, just the right ones in the right places and it will do fine. I see the next gen Everest as being where T6 Ranger was at the start of 2011, a much better package with styling that more in line with what buyers expect and a lot better chance of attracting more buyers, that’s still tough against the Prado. the external body width and the angle of door frames and windows. The current Prado is about 38mm wider than Everest and the door frames and windows are slightly less laid over than Everest but what all that does adds up to about 50mm more shoulder room - that makes a big difference, it’s called canopy effect and most buyers notice it immediately. This is why I’m liking the slightly squarer bodies of NG Ranger and Everest, they should be a bit roomier and feel bigger in areas that drivers will notice. |

White Star Line used to have a deal with Harland & Wolff that was simply 'cost +20%'. Think ships like the Titanic and Olympic. And it would seem that they paid on time, too.

Kia seem to have their own ad actors, and surely a comparison is due between the Kia woman, and Ford's previous actor, Ngaire Dawn Fair

It’s great we are doing well enough to have these choices. Sure organic almond milk isn’t $1/litre but people have the choice and are willing to pay for it. It’s the same with cars. Most cars are not $30,000 anymore. Just look at how many new German cars are on our roads. Plenty of people paying $100k for cars now. The average tradie ute is $55,000 before it’s kitted out. Most wouldn’t consider themselves wealthy but most people in Australia with a full time job would be in the top 1% of earners in the world. Things are expensive because we will pay it. Good luck with the Vee Dub. |

Bring back the Barra and I'll start coming around to Ford being a good brand again.
People say Ranger's are great. For their purpose they are and sales are good. What about those who don't want a truck rather a quick, versatile sedan or wagon that a family and performance car person would want? There is simply nothing in the range which is very disappointing. |

Just bring back the turbo Falcon with a cool wagon like an RS6 and we are set.
The small hatch to truck leaves a huge gap that the European market loves yet here no one buys them. It's bull**** as Falcons were fantastic |
