Minw was a Blue ford escort 1600 4 speed, fitted colour coded hot wire mags and a 45mm down draught webber and it would crack 98 mph going down the hill at Brooklyn onto the bridge LoL, then had a Sandman Van (dark Blue with Midnight Blue written on the sides) all decked out in the rear with 308 4 speed (wow the times i had in that)

Wonder how many people on here started their driving in a blue oval car and are still driving one now. Does your first car pre determine yr dna to be blue or red?

I had a Datsun 200B - Canary yellow.
Paid $400 bucks for it and i was constantly at the servo - not to put fuel in it though - but to top up the oil which it burnt everyday. I couldn't wash it too much as the bog would fall out. The doors literally had more bog in it then metal, and I'm not joking. Usually took 10 mins to start ( 15mins in winter ) and you had to drive with the windows down because of the exhaust fumes you could smell inside. For some reason the chicks didn't like it and i never got a chick while owning it. : Except for those ''minor'' things it did the job and got me from A to B.

I had no problems with a Ford for a first car, as it was better than nothing, but I always had my heart set on my old man's HR Wagon, or a VL. So I ended up with a VL, because the old man wouldn't let me have the HR. :( Last edited by Ryan; 26-10-2008 at 09:32 PM. |

1983 GA Ford Meteor twin carb. Still relatively new when I bought it. Had the head shaved and had extractors fitted. Fitted the lower gearing of the 1.3litre laser. Stocko ghia alloys, uprated springs and shocks.
Ran a 16.8 quarter which was quickish for a front driver in its' day. Bought second hand slicks and had a roll cage built and took it to track days. Eventually swapped the engine for a twin cam E5 with heavily baffled sump. Still ran carbs (twin yamaha carbs) and the compression was around 11:1 after more headwork. New extractors, sound proofing removed, radio and speakers removed. Not much else to remove. Weighed 883kg and made 80hp at the front wheels. quarter down to 15.9. Didn't sell it until 1999. Got $1800 and bought a magna elante. Worst move ever |

My first car I bourght when I was 15 (I'm a whole YEAR older now!) A 1978 XC Falcon Sedan in which I have a thread here entittled "1978 XC Falcon Restoration". To me its the best car in extstance and I would do ANYTHING for it I shall never sell it because I could never bring myself to do that. At the moment its a 3.3, 3 Speed C4 auto, but it will be a completely worked straight six (4.1) with a 9" diff ("xrglen style"), with a stregnthened T5 manuel and everything else that you can think of... Apart from fluffy dice. And one day after the straight 6, maby something more...
Thanks, Andrew

1969 Hillman Hunter hand me down in 1984. What a lemon! Lucas electrics meant I saved $$ on fuel, as most mornings it wouldn't start and I'd have to walk to school.
First car I bought was a '76 TD Cortina 3.3 xflow 4 speed sedan in 1985. It was in mint condition when I got it and I was fanatical about keeping it clean - I even used to Armourall the boot mat.... |

Red KE20 Corolla, 4K with extractors, 13 inch wheels and a 6 foot CB aerial.
It started my passion for KE20s but that soon ended when i bought a 302 XW Fairmont in Diamond White.

First was a 4 door LJ torana done up like XU1, 202 trimatic. Then went to another LJ with a 173 and aussie 4spd, that was a fun car.
THEN I SAW THE LIGHT.
