Im interested in these rim skins, but cannot make up my mind as to what color would be best for a Meteorite AU falcon with some chrome bits and pieces. White? Red?, Blue? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Has anyone fitted silver ones yet? How do they look?

Bought a set of these from Malz in Perth for $99.00 a set. Carefully put them on following the instructions and they were good until our first hot weather on Australia Day (42 degrees), I lost three of them when the doublesided tape must have given up the ghost and let go. Don't think I'll be spending another $99.00 somehow. :(

I'm glad I'm not the only one I've lost 2 now so not going to bother with them again. One came flying off when the wife was driving to work so replaced that with the spare one and now the other was starting to peel off so I ripped it off before it did any damage.

Hmm, thanks for the heads-up. I'm in Perth, too, and I was thinking of getting these at one stage. Just have to keep away from the kerb...

My rim skins were fine, lasted through 43-44 degree days we had sone time ago according to the temp gauge on my car.. Although when I had the rear Tyres replaced they were still kinda good except for where they were squashed in spots from the machine that holds onto the rim when fitting the Tyres.. Drove another 150ks like it and then pulled them off myself Coz they looked crap after.. And even still when I pulled them off I had to clean the rim and spend time pulling the rest of the sticky off (half the foamy strip) as it didn't want to let go..
I would say if you really prep the wheel up properly before installing they shouldn't let go

If anyone has any issues with the product whatsoever, I strongly suggest getting a hold of rimskins directly to discuss your concerns. Their customer service is excellent, the product is warranted against defects, and any faulty rimskins will usually be replaced at no charge.

As Simbad suggests, preparation is critical in applying the the product and in the majority of failure cases, it is down to inadequate preparation prior to fitting. I am more than happy to discuss any concerns you may have so please contact me if you'd like to chat, otherwise, as stated - Rimskins direct will also look after you.

Regards,

Jarrard Barr

An update to my previous post, I did as was advised and got in touch with RimSkins directly and explained my situation via the website. Within 24 hours I had an email reply asking if I could supply a receipt and what cleaner did I use. It was then discovered by my reply to them that I had been sold "Old Stock" which had problems of being wound too tightly in the packaging and also that they no longer use the small spray bottle of alcohol for cleaning but use wipes instead.

They are posting out a new kit to me under warranty which I should receive soon. I thanked them for their prompt reply and good service and will recommend that others who had problems do as I did as you may have received Old Stock too.

Anyone who purchased from this group-buy received new stock as we had to wait a few days for the new stock to arrive in the new packaging with wipes etc.

Glad to hear Rimskins sorted out your issue and came through with a new set.

I spent about 10-15mins per rim in preparation of the rims skins. I found being liberal and almost OCD about the cleaning and preparation work, it made the rim skins stick fine to the rim.

I also suggest that leaving the rim skins on over night without driving the car after application can help.

So far Ive had the rim skins on for about 2-3 months with no reported issues other than mild discoloration due to road grime.

Again, heavy preparation is a must. Even if you think its clean enough, go over it again.

Oh and I used the highly wound pack with the supplied spray on solution too.

Noticed this morning on the wheel I got a tire puncture done on a few weeks ago that the rim skin is starting to delaminate. I will look at pulling it off and putting the spare on soon.

Interesting fitzy. Looks like a bit of trial and error with some wheels on fit.

I have a brand new set in Silver (still packaged) I won't be using which I'll sell for $70.00 plus postage if postage is required. So you can save $29.90 off new price. I'm in Perth WA. You can email me at eaglem@iinet.net.au.

i have done over that no worries and mine haven come off and they have been on there for over a year and a half now
but i did a curb in a maccas drive through , very very slow speed and curb just cut the rimskin in half and then the curb scratched my rim
i put my spare one on, i dont think the do a great deal but i like the look they give my rims and they havent faded over that time
