Not mine, but I had a girl friend who thought that all cars that had round headlights were manuals, and only cars with rectangular headlights were automatic... I have NO idea where this harebrained idea came from, but this was the same woman who pulled up outside my house, worried because she could hear a strange rattling sound and she thought that as I was a girl who liked cars a lot, I might be able to tell her what the noise was without giving her a hard time. Well, she drove, I listened. About three corners away I had the problem solved. It was all her loose change rolling from side to side in the p*ssy little ashtray her corolla had, and it only did it when she cornered. Sheesh! Still, she was very relieved it wasn't something serious.

A friend of mine as a kid thought that the old days actually were black and white just like the old movies on TV, he never could answer me when I would ask how we all become colour then!

I thought that the old days were black and white..

I use to watch the window wipers on cars and wonder if they would ever catch each other lol..

I use to think holden was the best and ford was rubbish.. I learnt the hard way lol

The usual santa, tooth fairy, easter bunny..

Not me but my little brother use to think that the rear window demister button actually set the rear window on fire because the picture looked like it hahaha

I use to think there was actually a face on the moon..

I use to call dust smoke all the time.. dont know why

lol, I have a friend that asked me if her car would explode because she heard to clicks when she tightened up her fuel cap. So there are people out there that have no idea when it comes to cars.

Not me, but I used to tell my kids that there was little man in the sensor above automatic doors who was watching then ran "downstairs" to push the doors open.
Amazing how old they were before they started disbelieving!

Don't tell them, let them figure it out and then play stupid. My mum did that to us because she liked christmas. It was great, we knew she was full of it, she knew we knew, but she kept doing Santa till we were 18
:. I will do the same with my kids, just something fun to do at that time of the year.

That if I ate too many lollies in a day, my teeth would fall out on the spot. I started carrying around a toothbrush with me so I could brush straight after putting a lolly in my mouth. It was my grandmother who told me this whilst I was young, when people tell you the above and then proceed to take their upper row of teeth out (I didn't know they were fake), you believe them. haha.

Also believed that a car was as fast as the highest number on the speedo, needless to say that a lot of bragging/arguing with my friends followed.

Sounds a bit like my insane aunt who when she used to drive used to beep the horn everytime she turned the steering wheel (as she was chubby and used to sit right up to the wheel) And abused other drivers for beeping at HER!.Needless to say i don't think she drives anymore.

When my preschool class was getting the class group photo taken, the photographer wanted to make sure we were all looking into the lens of the camera while he took the photo.

He told us a bird lives inside the camera and he'll quickly run down to the end of lens when he hears kids yell "chookie". But he said that he's really quick and that we had to look very carefully to see him. I remember years later when my classes where having photos taken, some kids thought the SLR cameras had birds inside them.

Silly misconceptions I had as a kid regarding cars.

1) Every 6 cylinder was a V6. My dad had a HR wagon, and I referred to it as a V6.

2) If a car had a "x amount" litre engine that was infact how much full it could hold.

In general...

1) Girls peed out of their bums.

i always thought that you didn't have to fill the car up with petrol as it didnt need it....

and thinking that car tyres, engine's and everything else didnt need looking after.. soon convinced myself at age 5 when i stole the keys to my parents ED GLi column shift wagon and took it for a drive.. nearly busted the engine trying to work out the throttle

i look back at it now and just lol at it...

My childhood interpretation of the boogey man was that he looked like the Silver Surfer except with a boogie-board.

When I was little, I thought there was a little man in the fridge that turned on and off the light.

My niece once told my nephew that if he rolled his eyes back in his head he could see his brain. ( he tried for months!)

We also told our sons that if they lied, their tongues would turn blue. They didnt believe me until I told them to look in the mirror and put their tongue between their teeth. Of course the underside of your tongue appears blue because of the veins. They both believed that until they were teenagers. Too bad it didnt last longer...

I always wondered how a car could stay still with the engine still running. I imagined that the motor was so strong that it somehow twisted the driveshaft while the car was stationary...
