What does that have to do with a current model car failing a current test? Mustang was not tested using a 2018 test and every one else got a 2016 test! How is it the sacrificial lamb???:cons This is getting silly.... |

ANCAP is aligning with Euro NCAP next year, hence the rush to avoid the new system. Mustang has just been tested by Euro NCAP with the new testing system of which only two other vehicles have been tested (Volvo's). |

However, if that car had advanced tech to prevent collisions from happening, it would be interesting to see what "safety rating" this car would receive. |

Well this makes it a lot clearer, than the wheels story.... Still not a great look and it should have done better than 2. Seems Ford likely knew it was going to get smashed on this (pardon the pun) |

So either Ford are a victim of the testing regime's changes, or a victim of their own disorganisation because they couldnt supply a car in time to be tested under the old system? IIRC, they seemed to find the time to supply a car to Top Gear.......

They're not Astons ... they're not hand-made, they making thousands of them. Considering the marketing impact of a poor result, you'd think they'd take make a few less review cars. Unless they didn't know of the impending test changes, in which case, you'd have to wonder why....

Excuse me if what I am about to comment has already been mentioned.
Cops won't get the Mustang as a pursuit vehicle. OH&S means that govmint administrators will not touch a car with a 2 star safety rating. |

Seems mad that
a) the Australian automotive manufacturing sector has died, Yet ANCAP can continue make changes (relevent much? won't ANCAP follow in the same footsteps?) and b) that they didn't just keep the same ratings as previous, but increase maximum stars available to allow for new technology, i.e. make it out of 6,8 or 10 stars as new safety technologies come to market, so a 2 star under the old system, remains a 2 star, but a 5 star rating with the new tech applied, can get the car a newer (higher) rating Last edited by 383hq; 29-01-2017 at 09:05 PM. |

It ended up being karma for Ford Australia. Refusing to assist ANCAP meant that they had to go the back door way to Euro NCAP meaning due to all the delays it got tested under the new regime.
Had Ford Australia cooperated over a year ago it would of been done under the old regime and probably be a three star car. Now they will lose sales and no way any police department will make them highway patrol. |

I love fords! But ford sucks.everyone has know that for years. With a bit of luck Donald ( ballbag) Trump will ban Euro crap testing soon, but I'm pretty sure we will still get a headache when we CRASH our cars around a fixed concrete pillars no matter what regime of testing the gods come up with. I know that one broken toe is better than too broken toes Maybe they should make the testing pillars and walls out of old commodores and old mitsubithi vans..

Its not a good look , and some of those areas that where lack lustre looked like they could have been done a bit better without too much expense or effort imo .
it will be interesting to see how ford responds down the track . |
