Oh, also Lion Nathan are now brewing Becks in Australia. My brother used to drink Becks here and there (when it was made overaseas) but bought the Australian brewed Becks and said although Lion-Nathan said they wouldn't change the recipe, it tastes worse than it used to. (it was ok before) I wouldn't be surprised if they changed anything. I don't think Australia brews great beer overall.
You do know that Lion Nathan is now also brewing Heineken here in Australia now as well? My wife works for a winery that is owned by LN and they purchased the brewing rights for Heineken last year or the year before that.
I believe that Australia is the only place outside Holland which is brewing Heineken's.

Yes, I did know that.
That would explain the difference between a Heineken I once had and the stuff I have today. Today's stuff isn't quite as good.
Carlsberg is also brewed in Australia now.

I'm moving towards Grand Ridge Brewery. Their stuff is ok.

Definitely! Tried a whole heap when the wife and I traveled over there for our honeymoon in 2005. The Belgium beers are absolutely the best!

In Adelaide, we have the Belgium Beer Cafe where you can buy some of the more popular Belgium beers. I bought a 300mL stubbie of one beer for $14 from there! Absolute gold though. Try the Tripel's if you get a chance (and a bank loan)

Just thought I would add my 2 cents again.

Over the xmas break we had a bit of a binge, thought we would try something else, brought some Steinlager. NZ beer funnily enough, and it was very smooth, I liked it.

VB is horrid, cant stand the bitterness of it, carlton is way better as for as cheaper beers go.

Coopers is probably the best bang for your buck IMO.

Also, has anyone else brought that Beer Bible? Its not a bad read, and puts some euro beers in their place.

Ah. I thought "poor" was some kind of NZ slang...LOL

Well like I said, I drink any style, depends on the weather and what I am eating. I prefer lager and draught. But I also like Darks like Guinness and other stouts.

I never had a pale ale or sparking ale until I had a coopers aswell, and as I said, I am a huge fan of them, very easy drinking.

Yourself?

BTW, I love those mopars of yours, if I wasn't a Ford man I would be a Mopar guy for sure.

Although I wont touch VB if I can help it.

Thanks mate, thanks a heap. Wasn't easy getting them and then getting them to where they are today, though the 'Cuda is currently in resto.

Me, I'm a draught man. My Dad drinks the dark stuff & draught but the old darks etc aren't for me.

Cheers mate,
Carl

A night out where i am on a budget warrants a night on Draught (or that Crown Pilsner stuff)... But by choice for an aussie beer its Beez Neez hands down.. Love that stuff and have never gotten a hangover (might have to do with the honey that is in it!)

International beer would be Desperados (a mexican beer with lemon and tequila!) or Heinys!

I had a Carlsberg tonight.
Was terrible. Not VB terrible...but garbage.
Carlsberg is brewed in Australia and although they say crap like, "And this beer is the same recipe as so many years ago", there is always a change.

My brother has lots of Chimay, but he won't give me any. I'll have to try some sometime.

Corona is not a quality beer.

People feel exclusive when they drink it because it is ridiculously overpriced, and as I said before, the lemon thing is just to give it the flavour it lacks.

Like Crowns, Corona owes its reputation to its image...not it's heart.

It's what's inside that counts!
