Thanks for the tip Peuty. I was going to try the first choice in toowong, since its local. They have a pretty wide range of beers over in a littel corner, all sorts of imported and local stuff. Got a back up though now.....

When drinking GOOD beer, using a glass is INTEGRAL to getting the best out of it.

By pouring, it are allowing the beer to mix that little bit more.
Also, a lot of the flavour of beer is actually gained through the aromas.
Using a wide glass will allow better mixing, and will allow you to gain far more flavour as a result, and the extra aromas will also add a lot more flavour.

Now, the fact that Corona needs lemon in its bottle tip and is always drank from a glass tells a story there, aye?

Mountain Goat and Little Creatures are two small breweries that produce some nice stuff (I prefer Little Creatures myself - great pale ale), and my absolute favourite is Grand Ridge.

Get out and sample, people! Try everything you can!

Well said. I am a huge little creatures fan myself....probably why i never really bothered with mountain goat. But i might grab one single for a taste test. I have a shelf in a cupboard with individual empty bottles fo a range of beers....just from taste testing and working out what i like. Helps when you go out and have to pick a beer from a list and dont' want to touch the regular trollop. At home i mostly muck around with home brew. It can be rough but its better than buying a slab of XXXX (sorry but my qld spirit doesn't extend that far...). And cheaper too....

As for corona....well i used to drink it a bit but a few years back i was drinking one at a pub when i suddenly realised....ah this is crap! Why am i drinking this when they have drinkable cooper's ales and other stuff on tap?? I even home brewed a corona style for some mates that love it...that wasn't any good either compared to my other brews.

No worries. Toowong First Choice seems to have the best range. I used to get all my beer form there when I lived in Kenmore, but now Dan's at Ascot is closest, but they don't have as big of a range.

1LOUDXFUTE, I went that Pale Ale. Bloody nice stuff. I also got a sixpack of Squire Pilsner. Yet to try it, but I know it's going to be good.

Grabbed a six pack of little creatures pale ale and beez neez tonight. Both nice beers and I'd highly recommend giving Beez Neez a shot for something different! Also working my way through my first batch of home brew.

For a low cost beer they're not half bad IMO.

Yes boags premium is not bad. It is my fall back beer when i'm at a restaurant/cafe and i can't find anything i particularly go for. Never lets me down old boags.

Yuck.

If I wanted watery beer infused with Lemon and Lime, I'd waste my money on Corona.

Little tip for the Kiddies out there - never buy beer in clear bottles. For the reason, tune in next time...

Hops and light don't mix. For beers in a clear bottle to retain their flavour, the Hops that are added aren't natural, but are a synthetic blend. The beers always imbue an artificial taste. TED for example.

I'll spoil it Paxton. Beer in clear bottle are chock full on lovely preservatives to keep them fresh while the sit in the fluro light of the bar fridges.

Brown bottles are there to cut down on the uv light that ruins a good beer while it's in a fridge. If you must buy beer in clear bottles from a pub, then you should ask for one from the back....

barefoot radler sucks.

As for Boags premium, it's pretty hard to come by in the FNQ I've found...

At least I don't drink Fosters haha

Why are you drinking our beer when you have access to the best beer of all time, COORS LIGHT!

btw to answer your question - white stag is another one of our 'new' low carb beers, they have pretty funny ad campaigns. Not sure how popular it is as a beer though, it does taste pretty nice, but Hahn Super Dry is another one of these 'low carb' beers and my favourite Australian beer.

Tooheys is not a premium beer...it is a mass-produced one...a lot like Budweiser in the U.S, or Alamo (on King of the Hill).

Wow...you can't have had too many good Australian beers!

Little Creatures, Grand Ridge and James Squire are three great breweries...and thankfully, that don't believe in any of that low carb, no flavour stuff...Ales Ahoy!

We need a /bump for the beer thread!

Have you guys tried Coors Light? The silver bullet is the 2nd most popular beer in the US, they can't all be wrong. I love it. The only thing for me is its so hard and expensive to get here or I would drink it all the time (in excess of $65 a carton if and when you can get it).

Anyway, the less you guys drink the more cartons for me.

Tooheys-mass produced for quick consumption. Good marketing and easy to drink so it sells well.

Try little creatures, bit of a luxury but still worth the dollars.

Can't go past coopers though !!

Ha Coors Light best beer you have got to be joking ! yes I have drunk it many times over 10+ trips to the US, Being No1 in US doesn't mean jack sprat just proves they don't know better LOL.
Coors/Bud/MGD etc, it's the only time I can drink beer all night get a full stomach for nothing and I'm no beer sponge believe me.
Our everyday Aussie beers kill them imo.

James Squires, and Little Creatures share the same Parent Company as Toohey's - Lion Nathan.

I've never heard of Grand Ridge, but Wicked Elf makes a mean Pale Ale, and their Pilsner isn't bad either.

I've seen in a store in Hawaii VB advertised as a Premium Australian beer, right next to the US brewed Fosters.

Watch out For that Alamo. Especially if you have to travel into Mehico to get it.

Edit: Scooter - White Stag is a Low Carb Beer. If you like White Stag, try Hahn Super Dry. Far nicer, but slightly dearer. It also comes in a Brown Bottle, which beer drinkers appreciate.
