I still think PX2 was Rangers sweet spot looks wise, that they retained the PX2 grill style for the PX3 Wildtrak tells you something about what looks good.

Any reports of whether it'll be sharing any of the Bronco's offroad tech?
Swaybar disconnect, GOAT mode, front and center diff locks?

in 2010 for PX1 we launched with 3 body styles, 3 engines, 3 transmissions and 2 emissions levels. We staggered the stg5 launch because the workload was too much in 2015 for PX2 we freshened the cars and added the SUV body style. We also added stg6 emissions for the Euro markets in 2018 for PX3 we added the Raptor and the 2.0 Panther engine in single- and bi-turbo forms in both manual and auto. Upgraded the Euro cars to stg6.1 emissions in 2019 we introduced Ranger into North America with a unique engine, transmission and emissions level. While looking superficially the same as the rest of world model the body and chassis were essentially all new Let's list out the engineering work we've just completed and are still working on. Without giving anything away. We concurrently engineered:
so yeah, we're only selling one model...... |

Are they learning lessons and applying it to the new model or nah? Even if it was just one car, I'd rather just the one if it meant all their focus was on making that one better and reliable. |

lets be clear the other Fords on sale here do have development teams, they are just not based in Australia.
It only make sense that the Australian designed one is their best seller here. For me the new features including the electronic shifter, bring Ford back into my shopping list, really keen to get a drive of both Ranger & Everest now.

I'd hazard a guess between Transit and Ranger these are the two most widely sold models by Ford globally and while the F-150 kills them all for outright sale it isn't offered officially anywhere apart from NA & SA. so it's R&D team didn't have so many competing requirements plus VW wanting their own non-negotiables for Amarok. |

Just pointing out that some are underestimating just how huge this program was as Simon pointed out....not grumpy, more proud of what this team can do when they are given the resources....and they still achieve more from every cent they are given.

Looks great.... Lots of the features lifted from the Ftruck parts bin.......even down to the interior door handles...
Ford putting all their eggs in one basket. Lets hope its a winner and Toyota don't come up with something better. If it doesn't take off - Ford will follow Holden out the door in Australia!! They have nothing else....

They have a much bigger range of imported vehicles all made by ford, not rebadged daewoos or Isuzus. Ford are only missing a decent Family SUV they wont be going out the door anytime soon.

Not sure why. It just looks tiny. I know it’s bigger than the current model, It must just be the pictures. I’m sure it will have a big tough look on the road.

I tend to agree with you. My 21 Outback has the 11.2" portrait touch screen also and I think its overkill. Plus a lot of the cars functionality relies on the infotainment system interface. You also have to scroll through 2 or 3 menus to switch off/on and adjust aspects of the car which is more annoying. I hope the new Ranger doesn't rely on this tech to operate because I can tell you now, a lot will not like it.

almost wishing disaster on it just to be right, Like reserving a future told ya so…….. Good grief, Ford has a “ten year old Ute” that shames most, if not all the competition, when people start taking the new Ranger for a drive, there’s no way most could go back to a noisy clattering of a competitor’s POS. It’s that good, anyone who’s owned a V6 Terry will agree… Last edited by jpd80; 26-11-2021 at 05:42 PM. |

The focus/escape setup is great. Much better access to storage areas etc without a gearstick in the way but I do accept that the ranger is a vehicle for many different purposes.

I think there is still a piece of the puzzle missing.
Is the Ranger / Everest going to have a Sasquatch Package equivalent that has lifted suspension and runs 35" Tyres? It seems a waste to put all that development into the Bronco and not see it here.

After going through the specs and release details. This Ranger has everything I'd be after in a ute. I quite like the new Isuzu D-MAX, but this Ranger is next level.
It will sell like hot cakes if they can get enough stock. |

Seriously, you have every right to be proud of the work you guys have achieved. Both my father and I have had two Rangers each over the years, I basically live in my PX II Ranger. Is it exciting to drive, no. Is it an asthmatic slug, yes. But it does everything I ask of it. So, in a change from the negativity, I want to say thanks to you and Ford for making a vehicle I can use, abuse and earn me a living from.
