Auto. I mainly drive in city traffic. The car's a 5.0L. Manual doesn't make sense.
I have to say I'm amused by the number of people who say they "prefer" a manual but drive an automatic. Put your foot where your mouth is people, or else it's BS to me. |

I just got rid of the C4 in my coupe and wacked in a toploader. Now I feel like i'm really driving a muscle car, not just steering it.

^^^ Dmax knows the talk, even if they are slower in some cases i have alot more fun driving a manual than auto any day. if my 302 pano was an auto it would just be such a boring drive, whereas the 4 spd just makes it feel like a cars' car.

I love the new 6 speed auto. Our previous F6 was a manual.
The punkin is manual.

I looked all over Australia to get a manual BF XR8. But I live away from all city BS on the roads. There are no traffic lights between my house and where I work (about a 25K drive). From the time I leave home to the time I park at work I dont stop at all. But if I lived in a city (god forbid) I would consider a auto. For me there is a fun factor in a manual that a auto will never match.
Cheers all. |

All my cars are auto mostly because I can't be bothered living with a manual in daily traffic. I sometimes wish my BA XR8 was manual. But I bought the XR8 as a tow vehicle/daily driver and the towing capacity of the manual was significantly less.
But my next car, an LS1 Holden Monaro of all things will be a manual. Damn I wish ford would release a falcon coupe. |

i got me a auto and i like it but ilike manual cars as well you can get a auto to go quiet quick with the rite tricks but having a manual behind a thundering v8 is a awsome feeling that you just dont get with a auto.

i hate driving manuals in traffic but i put up with it because i get bored with autos longterm. As for auto in "manual mode" - joke .i really don't know why they all bother .

Since I share the car in the family, I drive auto.
And frankly, I'm too lazy to drive manual. I can hardly even be bothered typing. Come to think of it, even this "breathing" business requires too much effort. |

Always a manual. I bought my XE as an auto, thought I would get used to the auto. Wrong.. 3 years later I thought its either the gearbox or the car, it was the gearbox and I fitted a manual and I am happy, that was 9 years ago and there wasn't a thing wrong with the auto box that came out. Nothing like the response of a manual, the choice of gears, the feel of the clutch, the overall control of the car you have in a manual in most situations is far better. Auto's do have their place for some people but for me it's got to have 3 pedels.

Started auto in the EA, converted to manual
T5z in the EA 5speed in the TX3 6 Speed in the MX5 and all the work cars are manual (2x barinavan, 1x focus, 1x corolla) so practically everything I drive these days is manual

It took me ages to find my XR6 in a manual, theres not many on the 2nd hand scene. Every time I get into an auto the first thing I do is go for the clutch. I hate when driving up hills how autos 'hunt' for gears. On hills you just should knock it down a peg and get into it.
Give me a manual anyday!! |

I have an auto currently but prefer a manual as you have more control over the car but i am also lazy so the auto is the winner (for now).

I've had two manauls and 2 autos all of them were 4 speed for that matter
I'd prefere manual everytime, I agree its a b**ch in traffic but otherwise its feels like my auto's never in the right gear when i spontaneously decide to give it a burn. The BA auto i drove did however feel great in both modes

I think I have posted in this thread a year ago or something. But anyway, manuals rock and autos are for girls. *with the possible exception of drag racing*
And yes, I spend 2 hours a day to and from work (at least) in peak hour traffic and I have a broken left foot which has never healed.

I've always had manuals, until it was time to have a two car family, then mine was manual, and the wife had the Falcon auto. Last year, I changed my car to an auto 4wd (I didn't like the manual box in that model!) so we had two autos!
Even though I prefer manual, I tore the ligaments in my wrists 3 months ago (camira driver pulling in front of my motorbike), There's no way I could drive a manual, even now! |

Ive got an AUTO - Territory and the last 2 were Autos aswell.
I prefer Autos over manual, for the sheer fact that Manual boxes can be all over the place when it comes to quality and feel. Some cars have brillant boxes / clutch setups but for me theres always people whinging about the Fords, specially in the days of the T5. I dont regret having autos, they never give me any trouble and are pretty smooth, if i was buy a smaller car with less power id definately buy a manual, but with the torque the fords have you really dont need the gears to get you going. My next will probarly be a six speed Territory Ghia Turbo, so i guess ill probarly never get a manual the rate im going (I have a HR licence so i can drive manual btw).
