Is it based on the Ferrari 250? Because I was going to say the GTO, but looking at some pics online, it's similar, but not close enough...

EDIT: After watching some youtube vids, I'd say no, thanks to the c-pillar design. Back to the drawing board...

Verry irritating; I know this car - right down to the Tipo 33 wheels and white dual exhausts, but do you think I can remember the name?!?!

Some observations that might jog your memory Jimmyd, coz I can't get it either.

slightly different rear lights (33 stradale's are moulded into rear, these sit on the bodywork)
has a boot and can see the steering wheel and rear window further back, so not rear/mid engined (33 stradale rear engined)

I'm guessing an Alfa or Ferrari but just can't place it. Maybe Fiat or Maserati?

Was an extremely limited build.
Will confirm its front engine V8.
Jimmyd was on the right track.

1972 Alfa Romeo Marciano 268A Granturismo, one off special built by/for a wealthy collector (Mr Vincenzo Marciano).

That was hard Qwik6, only found it by googling the license plate

Nice one aussiblue.
Thought of Bugatti from the wheels, but it was too late last night to start googling.

Yes it was the wheels that eventually gave the identity of the cockroach away to me too. As a Fairlane owner with the old Bugatti copy style mags on it I should have noticed sooner.
