Currently significantly under $1.60 for 91 in Perth.

Anyone else picked up that the worlds biggest energy company, Saudi Aramco has signed an agreement with Chinese partners to build a state-of-the-art refining complex in the north-east region of the Asian nation. Incidently Saudi Aramco operates the largest refinery in Texas and also it is suspected effectively determines OPEC’s decisions.

I saw that. LPG actually got down to around 76 cents on the sunday or Monday. A day later it jumped up by 12c again.

Neato. It's $1.40 in Tassie. Can hardly wait to delete my LPG system. Gov. Sold us up the river yet again.

If you have NRMA membership you can get 5c off premium or 3 cent on regular discount through the app at participating Ampol stations. It has a QR code that they scan.

I check PetrolSpy before going either using that or the Woolies 4c discount. I got 98 for $1.96 the other day.

Ah Cantberra pricing...98 is $1.83 here.

You did know that the NSW FuelCheck app works there as well as NSW didn't you?

Yes but I found PetrolSpy works just as well as the data seems more real time at least last I check.

I only fill up at one of two stations on the way home either Hume or Calwell which is consistently the cheapest for me. Anything in Canberra CBD is a ****en rip off anyway

I've been having a sook about the price of natural gas throughout this thread,

Vic State Government just banned natural gas for all new homes and housing developments as of next year

Quote:
Victorian government bans gas in new homes from 2024

Victoria will ban gas connections in new homes from next year, the state government has announced.

The government said from January 1, 2024, planning permits for new homes and residential subdivisions, including public and social housing, will only connect to all-electric networks.

All new public buildings, such as schools, hospitals, police stations and government-owned buildings, that are yet to reach a design stage must also be all-electric, effective immediately.

I guess if they werent greedy bastards this wouldn't have happened, bending us over for our own resources.

West Oz did it right.

And: will that mean more people go cold in Vic in winter? Cos if they try to heat with standard electricity or bar heaters etc, it's going to be a big bill.

Lots of wood being burned in Ballarat the other night we went through. That's the other option...

A.C.T has been like this for a number of years now.Would rather have electricity with solar attached, makes more sense.Gas is not cheap & you cannot offset the tariff with solar. We have only gas cooktop & instant gas hot water, but ducted A/C attached to a 10.4 KW solar system in our new home.

Lol I said in the other thread about heating, the gas ban was coming to Vic. ACT is going to ban it totally for existing connections though not sure if this is actually law. Hopefully we can **** this govco or at least the Greens off next year but I doubt it

On topic though you can get 10c/lt off from Ampol for 3 fills until the end of August if you are NRMA member.

No new home in the A.C.T has natural gas as heating anymore, certainly not in the new suburbs of Gunghalin, & we are in Taylor.I believe the A.C.T government is giving grants/incentives to switch to electricity.

Yes the new connections are gone. But they were also talking about disconnecting it entirely in 2030s or 2040s. Oh and they are going to charge you to disconnect too.

I will be replacing my gas things as they go with electric particularly if the evap or ducted gas packs it in.

You pay either way. Stupid prices for gas or converting everything and then getting solar

There's a retrofit/subsidy program for people to upgrade heating to split systems in VIC, its the most efficient way to heat a home these days because the price of gas (and redgum) is ridiculous.

Fireplace is an oxymoron, we're in about $1500 for wood to heat one room of the house so far and we've still got another month of winter left.

You need to add the unique method of temperature control

If it’s gets too hot the oldies open the door to the outside while maintaining full burn capability of the wood

Changing entrenched attitudes is the hardest part of enacting change, stack the **** out of the fire place, superheat the joint then open up windows to sub zero temperatures

While I've got the ****s up, the ****ing nerve of all the Melbourne servos, fuel randomly jumped from $1.65/L to $2.10/L for 91 overnight, now its slowly working its way back down.

Got 98 for $1.99/L yesterday.

We don't seem have a price cycle on a weekly basis like other states, it goes by months or so where it jumps up 50c/L then slowly works its way back down over weeks until it jumps back up by 50c/L again.

$1500 seems a lot. I think we were $650 last winter, and quite a bit of that was left over so I've only got a bit at about $250 this year.

There's nothing like the feeling of the brisk outside air on one side of your face and a roaring indoor fireplace on the other.

You hardly see Evap systems any more, everything is now A/C, which is better really, because Evap(AKA ‘Swamp boxes’) do not work in humidity.

Yes you probably wouldn't do so today but they are everywhere still. Evaps work well here because the air is generally dry. I'm leaning towards a multi split system when either packs it in.

$1500 for one room!
I'll bite.
How do you spend that much for such a terrible return?
I've spent $280 for the whole house so far and it's beautiful inside.

No insulation in the walls, no under floor insulation (house is on stumps), lots of single pane windows - the house just leaks energy like a sieve, it's the typical early 1990s ****box build.

Basically the fireplace heats the open plan lounge room and kitchen area and that's it, bedrooms hover around 7-9 deg.

Basically we're in 8.5M of redgum at the moment and that's $1700, I'd say it's crossed the point where it's more efficient to heat the house with multiple split systems even without rectifying the problems with the house.

Still quite a few new builds here where there's little humidity.
