Yep, Saab 96 wagon. My dad had a heap when I was young, he used to rally them ( 2 stroke 3 cylinder ) I've never seen a wagon.

While I think it's close enough to be correct; I still think being pedantic it was a 95:

Quote:
Throughout its life span, the Saab 96 and its station wagon sibling, the Saab 95, had the gear lever mounted on the steering column. This became an increasing rarity in the auto industry during the 1960s and '70s, but was an appreciated feature among rally drivers who could change gears faster than with a floor-mounted lever.

I'm not sure either way 95 or 96. http://www.thesaabsite.com/96info.htm "The Saab 96 was also available as an estate version, marketed as the Saab 95." a 95 it is.

Looks a lot like a Mercedes Coupe. Is it some sort of Eastern Block version (from when there was an Eastern Block)?

I have no idea but the tail light styling reminds me a bit of a Ford Cortina/Granada from the 80's.

Made in the very early 90's.
Possibly the first road car with a kevlar/carbon fibre body.

As far as I read, its a UK car built in another country across the channel.

Looks a bit TVR to me but I haven't been able to find a similar pic.
