Ah well, after an hour long dip in the pool the skin isn't burning so much.
One word - THANKYOU! to all who travelled, entered, helped, sat around, ate food, got their car/shirt/photos/elsewhere signed by Dick Johnson, organised displays and just made the day go so smoothly. I always get really embarrased when people thank me because in reality I'm only one very small part of a group of very dedicated people. To mrs b2tf, minge, russ, gasolane, mygt05, ba bakes, crazy-au, actrob and any of our other helpers I have forgotten (sorry), a huge thankyou. It wouldnt have come together without the help from you all (there's only so many witches hats I can carry!) Congrats to ORSM Ford Cruisers on taking out Best Club Display, I was with Dick when he saw the display and he was really impressed. It was a very tight contest with most awards coming down to a single vote. Well done also to Mr Bling Bucky who took out the most promising example award, the stripes and big wheels all pay off mate! :ticking: And a very special thankyou to Jai and Corinna (XC460/JCS Motorsport) who were fantastic on the day. The Killer Tomato looked (and sounded!) superb and I don't think I have ever met a bloke as dedicated and friendly as Jai. From handing out free balloons to engine startups and taking part in our judging, Jai put in huge hours and really epitomised to me what car shows are all about. Highlights for me would have to be: Getting DJ's sig on my ute Driving the Accor Premiere Supercar down the main street of Wagga (oops!) Jai's engine startup Seeing the display as we drove back in from the airport The promo girls : Seeing everybody looking great on the day I'm told we had around 135 cars on the day which is a fantastic turnout, also around 3000 spectators. Minge also consumed 46L of drinks. Our promo girls worked approximately .0001 hours (some know what i mean) Dick Johnson signed 4.6 million autographs, 280,000 shirts and spent 400hours shooting the breeze with numerous grateful owners : I hope to get some pics up in the next few days, after I get some sleep! Thanks again to all.

Well done Austin. You did yet another fantastic job! The day went perfect mate and thanks to everyone involved. I even used my car as a work horse mate!
lol i never thought i would say that my boot install came in useful ? But all in all this day was great enough and organised well enough to ensure this event will become an annual event (if Aust is up to it ) Also a big thanks to everyone who displayed their cars! Everyone behaved great, there wasnt a turned up bit of grass on the field and when we picked up the rubbish there really was that much around the oval. It was good to meet a lot of member too and catch p with a few i have known for a while. I have around 150 random photos that i will put up of the day to show just how popular and great it was! Cheers.

I thought it was a great event too, my first visit from Canberra.
Being my first time though, I was under the impression from info on this forum, that it was a much bigger event than what I saw. I was little a disappointed not to see more T-Series on show. I don't think i saw any T3 Te/Ts50 on display etc. Cheers |

Was a great day, congrats to Austin and the crew.
Dick Johnson was the highlight for me, such a top bloke, i was surprised he was so willing to chat to people and actually listen to them even though he had thousands of people asking him stuff. there was some really nice cars on display and the venue was much better this year aswell. i took about 200 odd photos, should have some online soon

A big thanks MRS B2TF for organising this event and being the back bone of the day, the weather was great, the cars even better.
It was great to see the various clubs turn up from all over the place and really put in a top notch effort, well done for making the day it was. Lets see it get even bigger next year.

Thanks everybody for the pictures, i would love to get a copy of everybody's pics if you can and make a CD of them.
I hope everybody enjoyed the day, I know I did, Im a bit sunburnt (well, basically toasted actually : ), but unfortunately, this will be the last Wagga AFD held for a while. Between myself and others, we spent hours and our own cash to fund this day, and the response from some clubs and certain individuals has made me think that it's actually not something I want to do again. Thanks again to all who helped and assisted during the day, and thankyou to all our entrants who spent some time in Wagga. We look forward to seeing you at events around the place soon. Cheers.

Austin.
You and your friends should be proud of what you achieved on Sat, that was my fourth time at Wagga and you surpassed any other show I have been to there. Every show has whingers that you will never please, I never got a trophy but who cares, Dickie signed my glove box so I went home very very happy. Athol. |

Defiantly would be disapointing, i think if it happends again next year it would need to be pushed more as a charity event and that all PROFITS would go to charity, if we pushed the gold coin donation more and if jimmy didnt say it was free more people would of donated and costs would of been more than covered...

Austin,
I reckon you have done an outstanding job this year, much bigger and better than last year, and the location was spot on. We enjoyed coming over from Canberra for the day, and I'm sure many others that travelled thought it was worthwhile too. It was also great to see heaps of people coming to see the cars for the day. Well done, and it would be a shame it weren't to continue. Maybe a small committee could be formed, and some of the money raised this year could be reimbursed to you or go towards next years event. I'll be back next year for sure if it's on!! Roger (Shaker) |

I hope it does happen again! I thought it was a great day and the size was good for a 1 day event! Maybe next year a few Wagga Wagga businesses could get behind you and help with the costs of the event even.
I will not be living in Wagga Wagga next year as I'll be in Darwin however I may come down if it's on again. |

Let me add my endorsement to the excellent organisation behind this event and the outstanding results of that hard work.
I've been to the odd one or two of these events over the years and have probably experienced the best and worst of organisational abilities and this one is right up there with the very best. Austin and his willing team are to be congratulated on an outstanding effort both before and on the day. Like all these events I know there are things they would like to improve but that's what experience is for - it gives you the history to understand where you can do better but from my perspective the entire day ran like a well oiled machine. Unfortunately there are always those who want to be critics from the comfort of the cheap seats. These are the knobs who spend their entire lives criticising the efforts of others in the mistaken belief that they could do better - they can't because they lack the motivation to do anything other than carp and sit on their fat asses. Genuine people offer their assistance to the effort while these people want everyone else to do the work so that they have something to pick at. Personally I'd be ensuring that the only thing they got invited to next year was a gathering of flies - something I noted that Wagga has a few of! Cheers Russ

AUSTIN...... We had a fantastic time at this years Wagga AFD. Corrina and i would like to congratulate you and your team on a fantastic event that you should be proud of ! We were proud to bring our KILLER TOMATA to such a well organised regional event! We have been doing car shows for over 15 years and i have judged several and it does not matter whether it is a local show of 50 cars or The Summernats 1500+ cars you would always have people that are not satisfied with something that be judging or organising . BUT THESE PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS BE THE MINORITY! For those who don't know the lenghts that Austin went to too ensure this event was judged fairly he organised Six independent judges ranging from 60 years old to 20 years old male and female.
Austin as one person , can only do so much and we belive that you have excelled yourself and have created an event that can go noplace but forward! Too those whom have anything negative to say , all i can say is why don't you invest your energy into helping to make these events grow and just simply enjoy the fine motor vehicles and people at these events! Lets just remember whats more important.........the trophies or the CARS , FUN AND FRIENDS WE MAKE! Thanks too all who came up to see our car over the course of the day we appreciate all the kind coments and look forward to seeing you all at a car show or the Drags real soon. I’m so glad that everything went well on the day. This would have to be one of the best looking cars on display. Thanks Buckie for the pic. :hihi:
Cheers, Danny
