I wonder how long before Kia enter the garden equipment market .

Here's one of Hyundai's efforts .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKgR0sfEYgI ...

They make numerous items from mowers , chainsaws , these trimmers/brushcutters etc but this thing I'm not too sure about .

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqCplZ06O6A

Maybe a good blower /vac would be better in most cases . Not sure .

I built myself a bucket operated by linear actuators for one of my ride ons.
I've also got a dozer blade.
They're great for light work around the place.

I have mentioned this stuff a few times, but this Stihl HP Ultra two-stroke oil is well worth its premium price.

I started using this stuff after it was thrown in on the sale of a new machine a few years ago. At the time, I couldn't see why you would bother with a synthetic two-stroke oil, in both price and being locked into buying from the one place. But this stuff runs so clean it saves me time cleaning out exhaust screens. It smells a bit funky once burned though, not the usual two-stroke smell.

One of today's jobs.

Two week growth on a Kikuyu lawn, mulched with the Victa Mulchmaster on height level 3 (3rd lowest).

Given a quick blow afterwards, you would be hard pressed to know it wasn't caught and bagged.

Anyone want an old Victa for nix?

I've got a newer 4 stroke my parents gave me when they put artificial turf in their backyard.
The story with the old Victa - which is about mid 80's vintage - is my Dad bought it used when our 25+ year old Sunbeam mower died. It had duties for about 10 years on a standard block, then I used it on a large unit, then smaller again when I moved. It runs, but the throttle cable has either come loose or snapped, but it starts and runs anyway. I've currently got 2 mowers in a single garage and will probably go to a battery mower and line trimmer in the next year, so I want to start with getting rid of one of the petrol mowers.

My lawn is probably the area of the nature strip in the above post ^^, so it wasn't getting much of a workout.

Anyone who is willing to come to Dandenong in Vic to collect can have it.

It's a Victa. Change the spark plug and filter and she will be right.

Having a squizz on You Tube to get out of the heat (yes , even in Tassie) going to be pushing 40 C tomorrow too apparently ..and found a review on the new Husqvarna entry level ride on . These have replaced the LT series mowers that were pretty successful for a long time . Mine is the LTH 19530 ..

Not a bad deal ..Just under $3000, 17.5 hp ..(mine is 19.5 hp) and 5 year warranty .. Bloody easy to maintain , really reliable and plenty of power for most private owners . Mine is about 6 years old now and is a joy to use . I cut a couple of other places for people who can't really do it themselves anymore and was interesting to see the current base level Husky's ..

Yep , most likely . There are a few out there though who love restoring lawn mowers to 'as new' look . However in car parlance a 'barn find ' mower to run sweet would be fun too ..This one would be a beauty to take on I reckon .

Um, well............

Latest edition. Couldn't resist this Victa Comando Mulch or Catch with the mighty VSX160 2-Stroke engine. I'm pretty sure it has done plenty of work, it has some rust and has had new rings installed, but starts first pull and revs HARD. I'm not sure of the year it was made, guessing about 2002 and the catcher is from a later model. And best of all, it's painted RED

I have put another 2 blades on it as the blade carrier only had two for some reason. I also noticed it started to run a bit better once fresh fuel was in the tank.

This makes the current fleet at 6 mowers. From a total list of 14.

No, I don't have a problem...........much.

The Commando is a pretty famous and long lived nameplate for Victa ... Here's the newest version

https://www.victa.com/au/en_au/produ....html...albeit 4 stroke and self propelled with this one .. OR another famous name in the victa range

https://www.victa.com/au/en_au/produ...4-mustang.html....

What does 33 K plus steps equate to in distance I wonder ?

Continuing the strange automotive theme with Victa models, check out that mighty Sprint 375 engine
Before Christmas, my 92yo neighbour passed away, I was helping her daughter clean the shed out and found this exact model under a pile of junk unused for 15years!
I took it home and offered to “get it going”,well bugger me, added fresh fuel, it fires first go! I offered to buy it as a spare but the daughter wants to keep it :(
So I change the oil, now I know itll go for another 15 years....

Got a two month old Makita mower in the shed , new Husky brushcutter and it's been as hot and dry as Haiti lately and the bloody grass is dead . Nothing much to cut other than the tops off the daisies .. 39.6 C on Friday , Total Fire Ban , 34 yesterday , only 23 today , mid 20's early week and another high 30's on Wednesday . Last Monday was about 38C too...Not a drop of rain for many weeks .

Ah well , grizzling when I am cutting , grizzling when I'm not ..

New addition isn't a mower but it's something I've wanted for ages . I bought a Makita hammer drill and impact driver combo from Home Hardware $369 ..
Brushless motor version .

Came with the fast charge unit as well and two 3 mAh LXT batteries of course .. Very happy indeed . Used it today for the first time . About time I owned a decent drill etc other than the cheap stuff I kept buying way too often ,

Can i completely just geek out. So im a makita fan because its what i use at work. I had a brushed drill and impact driver kit from 07 to 2018 with 3 amp batteries and that kit was mad untill the drill died. To be fair 11 years of daily abuse isnt a bad trot, and by daily abuse im talking a constant thrashing on site 5 days a week. The brushless kit i have now has balls. I have the hd kit and 3 5 amp batteries, but still the old 3 amp ones and regardless of batteries the things have some go. The medium duty drill i bought my offsider is lighter and i kind of prefer it, being brushless it goes hard. My only statement is makita chucks loosen off if the bit bites, but you get used to that. Could be worse, milwalkee chucks just fail.

Thanks guys , Always wanted Makita and kept putting it off . Figured it was too costly for me for the sort of stuff I do . In the meantime I've had two Rockwell's and an Icon , basically budget drills and not hammer either .

Although all were/are 18 V the battery life is pretty average to say the least and the old saying "You get what you pay for " certainly applies in drills .

I got the chance to try the exact same Makita brushless before Christmas and was very impressed . So much grunt . Was in Home Hardware the other week , saw they had two of these kits left so i bought one .. Very pleased .
Doing my fence a few days ago gave me the chance to christen mine and never missed a beat .

My only scary thought ::: I might become a Makita junkie now

As a general statement store the lithium batteries charged and dont run them 100% flat. They will keep charge for ever that way. I had an offsider borrow my ramset rotary hammer drill years back for a couple of weeks but flattened my 3 batteries and left em flat, they never held charge again, with the added bonus ramset dont make those batteries anymore. I do like the $10 ryobi impact driver kits you get hanging in the isles at bunnings. Maybe not high quality, but they have more then enough screw tips and such in them that snapping one here or there isnt an issue, especially for $10.

Default Re: Mowing ..

I have been really enjoying using this little Victa. Whilst it's lack of cutting width and small capacity catcher are draw backs for most situations, the light weight and narrow frame make it excellent for small and intricate areas.

I have been throwing it on the back of the ute most days and using it for cutting in and getting to those tricky spots that are cumbersome for the Rover or Mulchmaster. I also really appreciate how the little 2-Stroke will power up when it hits heavy growth by itself.

Speaking of the Mulchmaster, had to put into the local shop for repairs today. I have noticed it getting a bit slow over last few weeks and today it started popping out of top gear. I pretty sure a new belt and a retention of the pulley system will put it right. I tend to send machines in for the experts to repair than burn my own time and earning ability fixing problems.
