Yeah I literally just got my letter for verification from my post box just then. I lost about three or four days just on that before I setup another account which verified straight away. If I could have grabbed it when I wanted to at $0.99 I would be heaps happier. Even still though if it keeps going like this then happy days.

Red line to the right on the Market Depth chart isn't very tall any more

Ahh ripple, I bought several thousand at 16c

And sold at 30c...

Yes I doubled my money, but selling at even a dollar would have been nicer.

Sitting on Litecoin, waiting for that to come back up

Doubt it will reach 1929, but is up 31% today to $2.40

Guess this is where I am meant to sell half to cover my initial investment so I can't lose if/when it all turns to crap. Didn't expect to more than double my money in 1.5 weeks, it's come too soon.

EDIT: Literally Nek Minit it is $2.49 @ 33.33% increase. Is this purely speculation or possible insider trading by staff from the mooted 2 household names that are not FIs?

EDIT2: So just sold enough at $2.50 to cover my initial outlay. Immediately after it is down into $2.2X territory - I haven't withdrawn my cash from the exchange and am tempted to buy back in again to increase my holding a little, but then I think about why I sold (to ensure I can't lose). WTF happened to checking in monthly and holding for a year?

This post is why I am erring on the side of leaving things alone.
Great to double your money and right now perhaps taking out my initial input is the go but todays rise is tempting me to hold on and just ride it out because I wont lose sleep with losing what I put in.

Other than me not selling to cover the initial outlay (which was the plan), your post are my thoughts especially the last bit

Funnily enough your thoughts echo mine too - bought back in at $2.32 as figure I only put in what I was willing to lose, and had planned to let it ride for the long term. Got away with it and actually increased my holding a little, so consider myself lucky and plan on just letting it sit and not pushing that luck.

This is where you need to be careful, as investing in crypto can become addictive gambling rather than cautious investing.

Remember, that there are millions of small crypto investors like you, thinking along the same strategy.... When everyone starts selling to recoup their initial investment, that's when the house of cards tumbles.

I understand taking out what you put in when it reaches 100% increase but that severely dampens your growth and like ‘go further’ pointed out, ripple won’t reach the lofty heights of bitcoin so unless you got in below 50c you really need quite a few to have a chance at an impressive return, if you’re only playing with what you don’t mind losing, wait and see if it gets to 200% or even 300% then cover your outlay.. maybe

^^ Yep agree with that.

The tricky bit is .."see if it gets to 200% or even 300%" or maybe then hang out for 500%, meanwhile the ride is over while you wonder

Yep, as soon as I sold that bit I didn't like the fact I was no longer holding as many, and reminded myself that I had only put in what I could afford to drop...so put it back in again and plan on sticking fat for the long run as I had originally planned. Very lucky not to have missed a spike or otherwise reduced my holding.

I really gotta stop watching the price charts...but it is so damn interesting!

Shutting the laptop and going back to We Were Soldiers on SBS.

Its really difficult to predict what ripple might or might not do. Its fundamentally different to all other crypto's. Remember that its primary purpose is to be utilized by the worlds banks/financial institutions etc. The more of those that sign up to it the more likely it will remain a solid investment. I guess my attitude toward the risk it very lax. I have already pulled my initial deposit out. I am in no hurry to cash out. Not while the Guv would take almost half in tax.

Let me play the devil's advocate here for a moment.

If Cryptocurrency is such a good thing and what the world needs rather than Fiat currencies... Then why hasn't Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Amex, Apple or Microsoft or even the big banks (all trusted brands), come out with their own crypto coin?

I'm sure they are all interested in adopting some sort of blockchain technology for faster and trusted transactions (and to make money).

They have the money to hire the best crypto and blockchain experts and programmers on the face of the planet.

They have a brand people will trust and invest in.... There should be no problem getting the general public to buy VisaCoin or AppleCoin rather than some unheard of Altcoin which started yesterday by some anonymous founder

I'm sure if Steve Jobs was still alive, he would agree that writing some binary code, uploading a blockchain to Apple servers then selling millions of Applecoins that would produce $ Billions in cash from thin air was a good idea... Much more profitable than manufacturing and selling an iPhone.

Food for thought.

My thoughts about what you have said is that the companies that you mentioned are either financial companies or tech companies. Crypto's have a foot in both sphere's. My guess is the mystery person behind bitcoin was a techno geek that worked in a bank....
