also getting in with the contracting mobs is a good way in the backdoor without much experience.. getting thrown in here and there making up the numbers in workshops or on shift..

Xstrata are running radio advertising for positions throughout their group of companies. They are saying experienced, but doesn't hurt to throw your hat in the ring if you are not.

they say to check HERE on their website.

Man it is severely depressing getting the amount of emails I do from Rio. Ill have finished my Mech Eng degree early next year but since I signed up and applied for the vacation program I am not kidding, 10-15 emails a day of jobs that suit me (apparently).

Their system is flawed as I noted I have not completed yet, but damn, Im so sick of study I just want to work!

Anyone else here applied for summer work? Ive done so with just about every company, work starts in DEC-FEB and I really want to get some experience so ill take just about anything, anywhere.

Try them anyway. Even Westrac take on guys who have not done this sort of stuff before, train them up for a specific section and let them go! As said before, it is all nuts and bolts, with safety and common sense.
Trust me, it is easier than working on customers cars who whinge about everything and don't want to pay.

I'm in the store at one of the mines near muswellbrook thru Supply Connections. I think they are usually looking for people. Also as was said before Chandler Mcleod. I think Mt Arthur use them which is the biggest pit in the area afaik owned by BHP.

I'm going to try to get into operating tho

I applied for vac job there two Daz, although, I had to laugh at the company name compared to all the others..wtf..LOL

I cant remember the company, but one form just straight out asked me if I was black or white, normally they sugar coat it a bit better than that.

I applied for the CHPP position at German Creek .. got the generated e-mail and later a phonecall.

I have over 70 companies saved in my favourites folder .. its a 1/2 day job just to peruse most of them for positions although SEEK has been pretty accurate lately.

I only get 50 or so sent to me instead of 400+ LOL..

The same "Need to have worked in a similar role for at least 6 months in the last 2 years" keeps propping up bah!!
