Venting is part of the healing process.

A new direction and way of thinking about Ford is on the horizon for many of the members here.

It’s good to hear what they think, whether they be sad, angry, disheartened or even excited about new models that may appear.

One thing though, as members of a Ford Forum they are unlikely to be disinterested or without an opinion.

Let them have a say.

Have they announced what the high-performance Mustang will deliver, as I reckon a bit would hinge on that?

You'd think they would want to avoid a situation where the outgoing sentimental favourite out-guns the new hero, so can't see them going all out on a last tribute to Falcon. Not unless Mustang will be quicker again.

I'd be surprised if they allowed a supercharged Falcon to be sold alongside Mustang if the Falcon packed a bigger punch.

Totally different in terms of looks and 2-door versus 4-door, but if all you wanted was a fast Ford...they wouldn't want the orphan potentially taking sales/traction from the new platform on its launch.

Or you may get both a crazy Falcon and an insane Stang??

Totally respect your view, however no-one is bagging out the cars as they were/are, or anyone for purchasing/owning one. Fruit aside they are fantastic!

IMO however Ford are taking advantage of loyal supporters, like yourself and me (although they are doing everything to kill my support), by treating us like we are gullible fools. What I'm disappointed in, is that MY favourite brand has, and continues to treat me like I'm an complete idiot. I WANT to buy a GT-P. I've wanted to buy one for a long time, but not at the expense of missing, what has become, in most other cars, the basics. And with the last of the Falcons, I want to get an FH GT, but it must have a least some of the features I want and that it's competitors have. That's looking more and more unlikely now.

I'm a Ford Falcon guy, I've supported the brand and love the cars. They are killing off both, and while I respect that Ford is a business, they are forgetting that through the years we have supported them FINANCIALLY through good and bad. Also when you look at how AFF and it's members (not to mention all the clubs around Australia) have been pretty much ignored for the past 6/7 years, compared to previously FoA being actively involved with AFF (and other clubs) in promoting all things FORD, its a huge slap in the face.

But that's just my view.

I agree, the last Falcon GT. However why would they drop a moniker they use commonly on the new Stang for our market when they can at least try and leverage it?

Just on another note I reckon XR8 might do ok with the Miami under it....I don't know about others but I wasn't that determined to go to FPV for my ute, I cross shopped the XR6T but the 8 won the day. I wanted that ENGINE, what body or badge it was wrapped in was of marginal importance

Don't know what the fuss is. You buy a GT, you get all the stripes wings spoilers and a GT badge. For that you get some "exclusivity" to show you spent 70K on a falcon.

Next year you buy an xr8, with updated interior, smaller wings and spoilers and that engine.

Ford won't be able to price it as high as a GT, but if it comes in around GS price currently with the 335 motor, seriously where can you get better bang for your buck than that?

Buy two for one HSV GTS..... absolute bargain.

The Boss of Ford has suggested interviews that Ford world wide are standardising on ST as the performance label - not GT as used by Falcon and Mustang.

We wont know for sure that the new Mustang will continue with GT either until more is released about it.

I got my letter in the mail yesterday from FORD announcing the good news on the return of the XR8 - but too bad so sad - no more FPV.
Oh well - in a way - I feel privileged. I am in the last generation of AUS Ford buyers to have bought a brand new FORD FALCON GT.

Sure they will be around for a while in the 2nd hand market - private sales and dealers etc. But I'll never forget the day I walked into Bayfords at Coburg and saw a yard sprinkled with brand new brightly coloured FORD FALCON FPV GT's.....what a sight. Choosing my fave colour and being the 1st owner was a dream. Alas - this opportunity is now dwindling and by mid next year may be gone........forever.

Just makes you realise sometimes how emotive these things can get. For me - I will not trade up to XR8 or Mustang. It's always been about FALCON GT - 4 doors , rough around the edges , more power than the chassis can handle and those gawdily decorated body shells with stripes and body kit, and of course - the badge. Yeah Yeah its only a badge - well - I say meh to those who only think its a badge. Meh , Meh , Meh....

Maybe the next generation can find it in their hearts to adopt the Mustang and make it a keeper here in Australia - I hope so.
For me....I'm stockpiling parts for the BF already....

They are great cars and we as in our generation have had the privilege of driving large rear wheel drive big engine high powered sedans. Just remember that cause the kids of tommorow will be driving stuff that is built with the envoriment in mind and we all know that can't be as fun now don't we?

Yeah Rod Barrett trying to make it more leet or something. I am with you ESP, Ford Falcon GT. It's what I refer to mine as.

As much as the XR8 won't have the street cred of a GT imo (regardless of features) I am still keen to see what it gets. As I said before, as long as it has FPV-like options (brakes mainly) I will have a look at saying bye bye to the AU

Top post! I agree and empathise with most of what you posted, especially the part about how these cars tug at your heartstrings. We all have different reasons for the emotions we feel.

For me I'm seriously going to consider Mustang because when growing up the Mustang was first Ford I identified with and to own one would be like a dream come true; just like it was when I purchased my first FPV.

One down; one to go!

Correct, BF GT and GTP are Falcon GT's as per noted on the build documents, this is an undisputable fact.

This.

If you love driving your car, why sell it and worry about what to buy next? Just keep it for as long as you're enjoying it. I see no point in selling your FG GT-P then complain that an FH GT is not available. Keep the FG. If no manufacturer offers you something you want more than your current car, keep your current car.

FPV/Ford are damned either way, give people a 12 month window to buy a fabled last GT falcon and they are doing the wrong thing, right now you can order a future classic in any combination you want and all we have is pages of bickering over what they will and won't be.

If you aren't going to upgrade well Ford hasn't really done anything wrong to you and if you are planning on it you have been given plenty of notice to get your cards in order, had they done a FH with no upgrades the whinging would have been endless.

I understand, respect and love the passion the GT badge brings, but they are retiring the name with the best version ever made (Nostalgia aside) and even more potential upgrades in the works for the Final limited addition, might be a sticker pack, might be something left from the Prodrive Skunk works, nobody really knows.
