SO, I had quit the smokes for about 12 months.. Then last year I had 2 deaths in the family, quite close together, which made me reach for a packet of smokes..
Been on roughly 30 a day for the last 15 months..
I want to quit again.. for good.!

I have found an excuse to stop and that's what I needed..

I have been smoking 'soft packs' for around 15 years now and with the inception of plain packaging, the soft pack have been outlawed..

So I'm going to quit again..!

Will let you know how I go..

Cheers

Good stuff mate, whatever works for you in giving them up hey. Personally I like nicotine, it keeps me calm when things get stressful. Finding an alternative delivery method that works and doesn't leaving me coughing a lung up each morning, couldn't be happier.

I have mates who love them, I did like them for a bit because of the novelty, but some of the flavors were bloody nice too!

Yeah the flavours are pretty cool. I started on ciggy flavoured ones, my thought was that all the other ones would just make me feel like a real smoke as eating those things would. Didn't take long to realise it didn't work that way, vanilla icecream flavoured is the shizzle lol.
They aren't for everyone, but for those who have tried to quit a few times without any luck, or want to quit for health or cost reasons but enjoy smoking, they are really worth a look. Just don't waste your time on the little ones around the size of a cigarette, they just don't have the battery power to do the trick.

I tried a few different ones, a couple ciggy sized ones, heaps of others, this is the one I ended up on
(photo stolen from google)
Hard to get and far from cheap, but works a treat and after the inital outlay only cost around $10 a week to keep vaping.

Haven't had any leaks, it could break if you dropped it onto a hard surface and it landed the right way. I've dropped mine on concrete more then once now, but have been lucky so far lol.

Just a bit of a side note, woke up this morning a week smoke free... Somewhat proud of my effort considering this time last week was my first smoke free morning in 4 years and I was struggling.. Today is just a walk in the park, actually leaves me asking why was I struggling so much previously..

Tried the mints and that didn't work.

I've gone cold turkey, and have 1/4 of a pouch, papers, and filters sitting in my bedside table still... Actually freaked the missus out yesterday when she came home because the gear was on the couch.. Had a mate over who smokes and he ran out of smokes, it was good for the reaction from the other half

Good luck to all of you quitting.

I've gone cold turkey around the 9th November, had a health scare when I was admitted to hospital with pneumonia. Decided then and there no excuses, had to quit no matter what, thew away a brand new 40 pack.

So far it's been alright, hungers picked up, feel healthier and the occasional craving comes and goes but other than that doing good. The money saved helps out as well since the car's breaking down

Great to see so many having success / getting back on the horse.

I cracked on my bucks night and had some cigars but "they don't count"

What gets me is that randomly I'll be sitting in the office at work and suddenly I feel like having a smoke and want to punch the first thing that I see... very odd sensation...

Well into my third month now and it has been surprisingly easy, except the mood swings. I am enjoying a smoke free life however and I'm glad to say I won't ever smoke again!

I've been smoke free for the past 18 months after 19yrs of smoking.

Patches and gum didn't work for me but acupuncture did, it didn't make me want to quit just reduced the cravings by 70-80% and found it easy compared to all the other times I had tried.

So I'm at 2 weeks now and finding it rather easy! Not much of a struggle going on at all, I do get the odd craving like 1 - 2 a day.

I do have the perfect inspiration for keeping off the smokes tho, my mates brother had his 2nd in 2 years double lung transplant on the weekend, because his body rejected the first transplant, and well, he was only 19 or 20 when he had that, from Cystic Fibrosis. That was a massive wake up call for me to get off the darts, thinking that when I pass away I want to be able to help someone out who is in a similar situation.

Have a good mate that lives interstate, that i call once in a awhile to see how life is treating him, quite a good mate, weve helped each other out heaps, and can talk crap for hours with.

He had emphysema caused by smoking, since the age of 32. He battled with it for awhile to the point where he couldnt walk to the mailbox, then finally got himself a lung transplant.

9 weeks ago get a call that his transplanted lungs are playing up, and he needs to go back on the "list" for a 2nd transplant.

5 weeks ago i ring him to talk crap about the melbourne cup, he cant talk long though because hes tired.

3 weeks ago he rings and says the hospital had lent him an oxygen machine to take home, we talk briefly how the transplant will happen eventually, and things will work out.

2 weeks ago think of ringing him, but nah, cant be bothered....... he passed away a week later. His wife and little daughter spend christmas by themselves this year.

Just remember these stupid habits eventually destroy your life & traumatize everyone that cares about you, especially when its so early.

RIP good mate

I'm 4.5yrs smoke free since my first of two visits to a hypnotherapist. ($195 well and truly paid for)
I can't even imagine myself being a smoker anymore, even my wife has trouble imagining it.

I made a promise to myself at my first visit to make it through to the next visit, then after the second I never looked back.

I have no issue being around people smoking, I occasionally enjoy the odd cigar, but cravings are the furthest thing from my mind.
Early on I would notice myself in situations and remember that I would have normally had a craving, but it never went any further than a casual observation, a shrug of the shoulders, often mumbling "weird", then move on with what I was doing.

It was a strange thing. I had tried cold turkey a few times and never lasted more than a month, but with hypno it seemed too easy.
