Time for a update...... its been a while.

At the moment I'm redoing my custom gauge cluster. This time I made the cluster from the original XB frame (pov spec, not gt spec) and cut out the outer part of the frame. then made a reverse template, attached the frame to it and fiberglassed over the top. The backing plate is getting laser cut in shiney black acrylic (the one in the pics is a mock up)

Also got a new steering wheel from the states while the dollar is good!!!

Insert should be getting painted next week.

Looks tops. Are they the various warning lights in the top left of the dash?

Have you come up with a way to label each of the warning lights?

I'm very interested in what you are doing with the dash. I want to do something similar to mine. I don't like the original XB dash and what you're doing is shaping up to look like a real nice alternative.

The warning lights are on the left, the symbols for each are laser etched into the plastic next to each one.... you just cant see it in the pics, I will take some proper pics once the final acrylic is cut.

What brand of gauges are they? Did you guy them locally or from USA?

How did you chose the fuel gauge? Did you have to buy one specifically to suit the XB sender? I'm trying to source some gauges at the moment but I can't find out the resistance range of the standard xb sender.

Sorry about all the questions :-)

All good mate. The Fuel gauge is Autometer, its suits the ohm rating of the XB sender. I will get you the part no. when I get home from work late tonight. The temp gauge is also autometer, the rest are Stuart Warner Performance series. I got them all locally aaaages ago (except my new oil pressure gauge), but from the US is much cheaper at the moment.

That would be brilliant mate. I'm on a buying spree at the moment :-)

I've been looking at the Autometer Ultralite range of gauges. They are a nice simple design that I like. I've also checked out the ultralite2 series. Pretty flash with LED lighting.

Have you done anything on the stereo relocation yet? I've just put mine in the glovebox of my XY and it's a real pain. Need to drive with the glovebox open (so the remote works), or undo the seatbelt and lean over just to adjust the volume.

Should have just stuck to listening to the engine :-)

I've been looking at your coupe dash and I'm wondering if the stereo will slot in where the lighter socket is?

Stereo is getting hidden in the Centre console.... Changing track and volume will be easy. I changed all my guage lighting to LED, pics will come.

You could run a IR repeater like this

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5258_PAC-IR-X.html

or maybe this

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=KC5432

That way you can run the IR sensor wherever you choose and it will send the signal to the sensor in the glove box.

BlueKoop, I completely applaud you for being one of the only people I've seen used a Mighty Demon carby over a dirty old Holley. Put one of these on a Chev race motor we had in the place of a Holley. Holley was backfiring through the carby and carry on, put a Demon on it, absolutely beast.

Very nice car BlueKoop. Well done.
Can you help me out regarding the mounting of the Quicksilver shifter?
Did you use the factory Auto "hump" or remove it and use the B&M shifter base under the console?
I'm wanting to do the same with a quicksilver through a standard console, but with the standard gear indicator.

hey mate, factory hump is there. Just used spacers to get it to the same level of the centre console. the console needs to be chopped to make it fit. Was a fair effort to make it sit nice.

hey man, looks awesome. i want to do something similar to mine but it will be ages before it is back in the car to get the right angle. How far in did you have to go at the top to get the gauges on the correct angle??

I went back 90mm but the old one I had leaned back a little more. Anywhere between 90 + 100mm will give a nice angle.

Hi,

Great build from what I've skimmed through.

About the colour, is the paint a custom colour?

The colour certainly isn't a Ford colour..... Its called Vivid Blue Pearl. Has quite a nice subtle lighter blue pearl. Its actualy a Honda colour.

Final gauge is in and wiring sorted, now working on the center console which will conceal the head unit and switches that were formally below the shifter.

NICE job on the dash mate . I did one similar not so long ago, took a bit of stuffing about , but it's in. Not real happy with the angle , so a new one is on the cards pretty soon....

My main thing this time was getting the two main guages to sit directly in the middle of the wheel. With my previous one they were offset to the right.... It used to **** me.
