No interior shots so still haven't seen one without the cream colour.
I'm happy to hear they benchmarked the Everest against all it's key top competitors. Just like they did with the ranger......making it better in every way they could compared to the abilities and so on of its competitors.
That proved to be a master stroke as the ranger has been the world ute of the year along with billions of other aclaims!

What's with the fog light surrounds tho(pictured in above link)

Guess we might get a different colour treatment that could change the look...

If pricing is 45,000 to 50,000 ill be trading In the Prado, but the leather would need to be Grey or black

At that price it looks like I'll be at the dealer in July reviewing a sale contract although I was hoping it was 62 to 65k for the titanium if that is what the top model is called...

Maybe 65 +on roads! but no way would it be d/a, not with the level of features going into it. Even 45-50+on roads for the base is good value. A base model territory is 42 in rwd diesel d/a. So for not that much more you're getting loads more in terms of standard equipment, and a proper 4wd.

If you can, I'd wait 12 months. By then they will have ironed out any bugs, demand will not be quite as high and the dealer discounts will start to kick in when they have forecourt stock at the end of the month.
My Terri is starting to get tired but I'm planning on wringing another 12-18 months out of it. I own it outright and It'll be retired as a second car. The plan is to grab one of these for the new family hauler especially seeing my three sons will be getting to an age where camping etc will be the preferred holiday of choice by Christmas 2016. Fraser Island is high on the to do list and the Terri just will not do it.
I've had the Terri 8 years and it hasn't missed a beat and l hope to have one of these as long. That'll mean I'll have a 17, 15 and 11 year old by the time I retire it to the second car! There better be a lot of leg room in the second row of seats as I'm 6'6 and the boys aren't going to be small!

Not bad considering the kit they will have.

Plus IIRC when the SZ Territory Titanium was released, wasn't RRP somewhere up there?

And so it should....it was or should I say been heavily researched against the Toyota product and being the new game player it should exceed it, but to go as far as saying Toyota buyer’s are sheep is a little miss understood on your behalf, Toyota has been the game player in this segment for year’s, they have not had any competition what so ever , so why should buyer’s or as you call them sheep think otherwise, tell me one 4wd that could match the Toyota product in previous year’s on price point and compability alone ?, let alone after sales service aftermarket and genuine service.

So yes this new Everest should be the be all and end all, no different to the Ranger which has only just reclaimed some ground to the Toyota product, the Ranger before hand was crap which was no different to the Ford product before hand in this segment so it’s about time they lifted their game, wouldn’t you say.

Yeah yeah yeah... I know plenty Toyota buyers who are sheep, most of them own Hiluxs, As for the Pk ranger being crap it's actually comparable to the Kun Hilux so calm your horses.

I don't care too much for on paper specs. In the real world these never match up.

The aim reason j have the new Prado right now is because it cost $60k on the road and it will sell for $45k in 4 years. The Ford won't. But I'll be able to watch that closely while I wait.

Question is why to the Land Cruiser brands hold so much value? Why don't other makes? It's not marketing, 4WD monthly put it best when the compared the 150 with the GC and D4 - the Prado is a safe bet, it won't fault, it will cop a hiding, it copes with rocky terrain in standard form, it resells very well and it has a dealer network that is not compatible to anyone else.

On paper specs don't reflect these values.

I just bought two hilux's last week. They were dearer than the Ranger and Bt50 amoral etc but we have 7 others, not a fault or complaint from a single one in 300,000kms and after driving them old girl they still are comfy, quiet, and so friggen simple and reliable.

No one at work is complaining either. Go figure.

Also one goose filled one with petrol, drove till it conked out. Took it to Toyota and they pumped the tank gave as the petrol for our mowers and refilled the tank with diesel for $380 incl. towing. No damage to fuel pump or injectors. How good is that.

Underpowered but healthy on torque. More is better but you don't feel wanting with the old 1kD. Been around for a decade now and apart from the early injector issues not a thing to worry about.

In Europe the 1kd has had 140kw for 5 years, same engine different tune. So bagging the outputs is a bit silly. The reason we get a detune is because of our quality fuels.

You can custom tune one to 200kw and 550nm but no one does. Must be good enough for most.

Keep any eye on the next update, rumours are strong the V8TD is heading to Hilux and Prado. Win win I say.

Back on topic. I'll be keen to benchmark a top model against a GXL in 4 years but bugs and after sales service will be more important not on paper claims.

I bet you know all of the Toyota buyer’s around in your little world up north to make an assumption as you did, because I can tell you right here and now that your not the only bloke going around that knows plenty of Toyota owner’s, who by the way are not sheep.

The PK ranger was a measly 115kw compared to the so outdated and underpowered Hilux of that time at 126kw and let’s not forget to mention the 175 kw petrol powered if you wanted in the Toyo.

Anyway this is of topic talking about the Ranger v Hilux as I was referring more to the Prado or Toyota in general compared to this segment and by the lack of your response above you know that the Everest should be the game player as the Prado has had nothing to play against in year’s gone by.

No need to calm my horse’s son I just laugh at those that think they know it all by claiming Toyota buyer’s as sheep when clearly those sheep as you claim have every right to buy the best car in the segment with their own damn money, and obviously if their on a good thing then why change.

I look forward to Ford finally bringing something to the table that should knock Toyota of it’s pedestal considering this is the market that I am personally interested in, time will tell though.

If that is true, then that would almost have me sold on the next model Prado here and now.

I also concur about the Toyota resale value’s compared to other makes such as Ford, the Toyota has one of the best resale values going around, sort of says something about the brand doesn’t it.

Won't matter you won't buy one anyhow!!

I've seen toyotas first hand with costly issues like injectors, rust and other common faults.

Yes resale is great but as far as comfort, handling, road manners and towing capability toyota loses... Can't even tow 3 tonne with a hilux.... Gotta service them every 10,000 kms... Fuel economy, the list goes on....

Mate you have been buying a new SUV for last 5 years... Toyota could bring a 700nm 4500kg towing prado out and you'd say your going to wait for the next one....

WTF has my personal situation or expenses got to do with you mate, I’ll buy what I want when I want, not all of us can offload a car due to family or business commitments is that ok with you.

One thing I won’t do is continuously buy a Ford product and then offload it to then only ***** and moan and about the lack of aftersales relationship I received on how they rust with certain colours or they didn’t treat my old man right in the ownership....don’t go making this **** personal mate.

Win win I say.

let's hope the v8 is more popular in the Hilux then it is in the 76 series... What a joke those things are.

Yes resale is great but as far as comfort, handling, road manners and towing capability toyota loses... Can't even tow 3 tonne with a hilux.... Gotta service them every 10,000 kms... Fuel economy, the list goes on....
With a post like that you have obviously owned a Toyota ?, or do you just like to listen and read what you want to hear and follow the sheep that think the same....

Say what ever you want mate, you know as much as I do that Toyota is and has been the king in this area for year’s and has been the Prado.

Oh and its a SUV come full time 4wd.. if you had half a brain you would realise that most 4wd’s in order to be just that do not drive as well compared to your family Falcon or Merc that you like to drive around in.

And you couldn’t even tow 3 tonne in a Ranger up until the recent PX, so whats your ***** now.

The Hilux has been the choice of trades/bussniess and personal sales for year’s on end, theres a reason for that and if you opened your eyes you might actually see.
