Once a car has been tagged as a "clunker" under the programme, they're legally bound to make the car unusable. It's not legal to part the car out or re-sell it, and the US gov. encouraged them to disable the car via liquid cement in the engine.

It was [as I think the program has now stopped] illegal to sell any of the engine bits too. Theory being that they would starve the market of bit and pieces to keep older cars going.

Just have to stop and think about this one guys - these are the future classics for our kids they are destroying.

Just think where would we be if AUS did this 20 years ago - no XK-XYs, no XA-XDs, no ZA-ZDs, no Escorts, no Capris....... not to mention no Monaros, Toranas, Chargers, 240Z-260Zs, E types, XJ6s, Mk7s, Jensen Interceptors, etc, etc

Scary now isn't it......

Haha! All that needs is a "Brougham" and maybe a "DeVille" badge to go along with the others.

Found this in the Summernats Gold carpark. Story I got from the security guard was that about 3 men parked it, and got out of there in a big hurry. The owner looked to be in his 50's. The number of people taking photos of it, it should be all over the net.

See if you can guess what the plate is meant to read.

Not really sure the car is a fail. It certanily succeeds as a pi55take.
