Hints:

Over its history, since being established in the early 1900's the company has made many things including: cars, trucks, motorbikes, buses, trolley buses, light tanks, aircraft and artillery tractors. In more recent years its focus has been on trucks, transmissions and hydraulic machinery. I was taken over by a major truck manufacturer in 2007.

The company name has a strong link to where the factory is based. It made 4 and 8 cylinder cars but made no cars after 1950. It was still making motorbikes until reasonabley recently (i.e in the current Century).

Lady Cabriolet, the company is Praga (obviously originating from Prague in the then Czechoslovakia) and the name was taken over by Intrall.

Correct. Praga Lady Roadster or Cabriolet. Not a well know company despite their long history.

Not a Bristol 400. It has closer links to another (once common) German marque, though one not quite so 'pretty' in name nor appearance (though, I'd love to see one as a kustom).

Post #2776 is actually a huge hint. Its badge doesn't wear the colours of the Bavarian Motor Works.

Yes, I'm being a real stickler for exact accuracy. But otherwise it would be far far too easy!

This factory was based in Eisenach and due to politics it turned out the mystery car only for a brief period with a red and white roundel instead of the normally seen blue and white. This is the critical detail.

Correct company as seen in the photo above! Now, why does it look so damn much like a BMW 327 and if it isn't then what is it?

EMW was BMW before it changed its name. Sorry no; it was the East German post war BMW that was changed to EMW.
