The worst offenders seem to be aussies out here. The truck gets collected, and a car/ute left in its place for a couple of days, then truck is back and car/ute is gone and rubbish left behind. Rinse and repeat. Council dont seem to care.

This problem really has nothing to do with trucking companies or drivers from overseas, it is well known fact that most trucking companies will employ independent owner contractors to cover excess work.

It is the independents who cause this problem of parking in the streets, also customer premises not able to accept all loads booked in for the day.
I work in this industry and see this all the time in my own local transport hub area.

PS: As for truck driver dumping rubbish, well yea they are pigs for this, we get them doing this on our site and by God if they get caught, it is instant ban from our company.

Why is it tool companies dictate what I should buy?

I'm needing a set of spade drill bits for timber. I can buy each size separately, or a pre-determined set of sizes. The pre-determined set sounds good, but they skip sizes, for example 10mm, 14mm, 17mm, 20mm, 22mm.............and so on.

I would prefer to buy a set and have a nice case to hold them. But, I just know that when I go to grab a drill bit, the kit won't have the exact size I need, which then means I have to go and buy that size separately, then have nowhere to fit it in the fancy case. So, I WANT THEM ALL, not a token selection made by a product planner who probably doesn't even use said tools.

Same concept applies to other drill bits and drivers, screwdrivers, sockets and ratchets......................

I don't bother with sets any more, most times you have bits you won't ever use, I just buy the common size I use, been doing this for over 40 years and been really cheap for me in the long run.

OBTW, don't tell your neighbours this, as they are good for borrowing from when you need that odd size.

Maybe they’re the “lick and stick” type tattoos that used to come in packets of bubble gum? You’ll need to get close enough to sniff one, so you can be sure if it smells like lollies.

Buy Snap-On. They come in red and usually do a proper full set without skipping numbers.
There drill bits are amazing. Like dangerous amazing.
You could sell the XR8 and pick up a nice socket set.

Funny, I spotted the goofy Snap-Off truck this morning displaying some real sketchy driving skills.

Snap-On does absolutely nothing for me, a marketing company selling overpriced American junk designed in the 1980's. If we were talking Wera, well that's a very different story.

…Some time in maybe the late eighties, bread makers in Australia decided it was appropriate to ditch “fruit bread” that often included mixed peel and currants, to be replaced with faux-American “raisin bread”. Why?

…So difficult to get beige or light olive coloured 2K epoxy automotive primers now?

So they can be applied over replacement panel black e-coat on the inner surfaces of guards (etc) and make a passable impression of the factory primer.

I can get U-pol single use spray cans, else I’d have to get a white epoxy tinted. Years ago there was a PPG beige/olive primer that matched well enough, as sold.

Syndrome wasn't joking.
I think by law transactions above 10 grand the bank must enquire, and below 10 grand if they have any reason to suspect you. Do you look scruffy (lol)??
Its all about tax evasion, illegal acivity, and the cash economy. Government don't want us to use cash, they can't track it, so can't tax it.

Why is it Falcon's use Imperial 13/16 lug nuts and not metric 21mm? Sure, a 21mm socket works, but there is too much slop for my liking, which means having a separate deep socket.

First off congratulations
Now wait till you start getting the calls to entice you into taking a loan for a investment property, and the we can help you do it.

I remember getting to the point I told my bank if I ever need anything I will call another bank, because of these phone calls, so they would leave me alone, Have had none since.

I remember having to fill something out to actually discharge our mortgage, as the payment of the home loan in full does not discharge the loan for some reason and is still listed on the house?, found this out too when we sold the wife's Mothers house as it was still listed as having a mortgage 30 years after they had paid it out.

Yes, there was a release fee here, a bit over $200 IIRC and then they gave an extract of the electronic title and a letter.

We deliberately haven't discharged the mortgage just in case...
It doesn't cost anything to keep it there.
If we decide to sell (very unlikely) I'll do it then of course.

Never trust banks, and in my opinion close your mortgage, you really don't need it, plus you now have an asset that will cover any type of loan including a mortgage, if the needs arises again.
