The same thing happened with a friend of mine in WA, got stood down and then reoffered a few shifts at work but he was only going to be getting $45 more for going to work.

I'd do that and while sitting at home look at starting another business again I reckon but I'd do it differently this time.

Australia had 18 new cases, no deaths and both CMR (1.403%) and active cases (10.7%) showed improvement.

NZ had 1 new case and no deaths so both CMR (1.409%) and active cases (9.1%) improved.

The UK had 4,649 new cases and 629 deaths and while the CMR improved slightly to 14.781%, active cases rose to 85.0%.

The USA had just under 30k new cases and just over 2k deaths so the CMR rose to 5.951% and active cases remained steady at 77.2%.

Globally, total confirmed cases surpassed 4M and Russia continues to have more than 10k new cases per day.

Yep, my revenues are down 85% about 40 employee's.

Retrenchments are easier if people literally volunteer themselves.

We are in the services industry. I'd have to close the doors without jobkeeper, provides $750 a week for each retained employee, mostly they are at home, anything over that comes out of the revenues.

Gatherings of up to 20 people permitted: Cinemas / theatres; Seated dining; Galleries & museums; Beauty, nails, tattoo, massage (non-therapeutic); Driving instruction lessons; Gyms and indoor fitness.

Sport transition to competition without spectators, including indoor.
Border restrictions remain in place for both Stages and further easing of restrictions has not been announced yet.

From midnight 8th May:
All indoor and outdoor gatherings can have a maximum of 10 people (including children). This includes gatherings at a person’s home, which can be a maximum of 10 people.
Weddings can have up to 10 people attend, excluding those conducting the ceremony.
Indoor funerals can have up to 20 people attend, excluding those conducting the service, OR outdoor funerals can have up to 30 people attend, excluding those conducting the service.
Religious ceremonies & places of worship can have up to 10 people attend, excluding those conducting the service.
Outdoor boot camps & personal fitness training (non-contact) can be held with a maximum of 10 people and no sharing of equipment.

Public schools will return to on-campus learning in stages over the coming four weeks from Monday 18 May (week three of term 2) to Tuesday 2 June (week 6 of term 2).

Tasmania
from 11th May:

Funerals – increase from 10 to 20 attendees.
Aged care visits - one visit per week & no more than two visitors.
National parks & reserves - open to residents for exercise within 30km of their home.
TasTAFE campuses & training facilities open for invited small groups of students only attending practical learning and assessment sessions

Stage IA – 18th May
Gatherings increase to 10 people (except households, which are capped at 5 people) for indoor and outdoor, including real estate, small religious gatherings & weddings. Funerals can extend to 30 people outdoors.
Restaurants & cafes in all settings to open & seat up to 10 people at a time. Seated table service only with physical distancing.
Border controls remain in place except domestic travelling Tasmanian residents can quarantine in their principal residence if it is suitable. International arrival arrangements remain in place.
Community & local government facilities & libraries allowed to open for up to 10 people.
Park exercise equipment & playgrounds, pools & boot camps open for up to 10 people.

Stage IB – 25th May
Kindergarten to Year 6 students return to learning at school. Year 11 & 12 students at extension schools & colleges return to learning at school.
Aged care visits - restriction of two visitors, once a day.

Stage 1c 9th June
High school students from years 7 to 10 students return to learning at school.

Stage II 15th June
Gatherings increase to 20 people at a time for indoor & outdoor, including restaurants/cafes, cinemas, museums, galleries, theatres, performance venues, historic sites, religious gatherings and weddings.
Funerals up to 50 people.
Accommodation, unlimited.
Camping, overnight boating & shacks open with up to 20 people.
Open homes & auctions can resume with 20 people.
Border controls remain in place.

Spas & bathhouses to reopen.

Northern Territory
Stage II 15th May
Activities below must be undertaken in less than two hours.
In stage two you can:
Serve & consume food or beverages in a shopping centre food court.
Operate & attend restaurants, cafes.
Operate & attend a bar, sports or RSL club (alcohol allowed with the consumption of food), excluding gaming activities.
Participate in organised training activities for sporting clubs and teams.
Operate or attend an indoor market.
Operate or attend a beauty therapy salon for (non-facial) services, such as nails, massage & tanning.
Operate or attend a studio that provides yoga, Pilates, Zumba, barre, dance classes.
Operate or attend physical training activities indoors such as Cross Fit.
Operate & attend a gymnasium.
Visit a public library or a toy library, or indoor playground.
Operate & attend a place used for religious worship.
Attend an art gallery, museum, public memorial, public historic site, zoo or wildlife facility.

Stage III 3rd June
Prior to resuming operation all businesses and organisations to have a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place.
In stage three you can:
Operate all licensed gaming activities including a TAB.
Resume officiating, participating & supporting the playing of team sports such as football, basketball, soccer & netball.
Attend any cinema or theatre, concert hall, music hall, dance hall, nightclub or any other similar entertainment venue in approved configuration.
Attend an amusement venue.
Attend a bar without food being consumed.
Operate & access all previously restricted services at a place that provides beauty therapy and/or cosmetic services including facial care.
Operate & access all previously restricted services at a place that provides tattooing or body art such as branding and piercing.
Attend an amusement park, community centre, recreation centre or play centre.
Attend an arena, stadium, sporting facility including community & sporting competitions with spectators in approved seating configuration. However, if above 500 people the event requires a separately approved COVID-19 Safety Plan.
Major events will be approved on a case by case basis.

I think Aus Post have been just as inundated within an unexpected inlfux of customerage as supermarkets were for toilet paper. It takes time to ramp up your processes to be able to compensate.

And then there's all of the social distancing and goods handling practices they'd need to put in place to ensure the health and safety of their workforce during the pandemic.

I think we should be showing them a little bit of empathy. And probably even a bit of sympathy.

Maybe parcels but their mail service is crap ever since that Iranian guy left as CEO and took 5 million dollar salary with a huge payout to boot.

We have been paying for him ever since. Some places don't have a daily mail service anymore.

I send USB's all over Aus and NZ via the regular post. After the CEO left it went from 55 cent post standard to $1 to now $1.10 and of course a USB is ever so slightly thicker that their slot, so they make me put 2 stamps on each envelope.

15 working days to post an envelope to WA from country Victoria. 5 working days for the same from country Vic to Melb or Sydney and this was before Covid.

That's what they want, think about it, jobkeeper pays $1308 after tax, centrelink with covid supplement is $1100 tax free, so those getting jobkeeper only get $200 more per fortnight and might have to work for it, jobseeker recipients don't have to do anything as they get an exemption from looking for work.

He's generally a fairly well liked premier by Victorians, we're a little bit more progressive than other states so the Melbournites tend to warm up well to the direction he has taken the state and he's put up a lot of $$$ on huge infrastructure projects around Melbourne that have been neglected over the past 25 years even though it's Australia's fastest growing city and has some serious traffic issues.

He's pushing the authoritarianism though with how he's handling our restrictions which has taken off the glitter.

Personally I don't like the heavy handed way he's dealt with COVID-19 restrictions but I welcome the infrastructure investment into our city.

You have to put context around it though, the Victorian LNP haven't put up any decent front runner the past few elections, the last one got busted at a dinner with organised crime figures

Their current front runner no one knows who they are, they've just been very insignificant and poor on marketing compared to our state ALP.

Regardless you'll get the rusted-on voters putting a 1 in the box for their team but the LNP here aren't able to convince the swing voters or put up a decent campaign in marginal electorates.

Unless they spend their marketing spondoolies more effectively and get someone with a personality leading the party the LNP are going to spend another cycle in opposition here.

Yeah there's been a lot of initiatives from our hospitality industry which is great, one of my colleagues lives in South Yarra and a pub there was doing takeaway pub fare and beer on tap being bottled and capped and done as takeaway.

I'm still convinced food trucks are the future of hospitality industry, much lower overheads, mobile, just pay permits to greedy councils and you can have an eccentric venue.

$22 for burger and chips and $5 for sticky date pudding - all up $27 which is great value for Melbourne pricing, quality is great, I'm not a burger fan but it was quite enjoyable, the onion actually had a strong flavor too which is a rarity, food quantity is hard to judge in a photo but I'm a fat 'ozwog' who loves food and the serving size is a little on the too much side which says something.

The process was:

Send text to mobile number

They'll send text back (in this case they let me know salt and pepper squid wasn't available)

I reordered something else,

Then they'll send a text saying your order is nearly ready.

I got in the car when I got the text, drive to the next town, went to the counter, paid as it came out.

From text to eating in under an hour - as far as the experience goes I think this has worked great given these people are improvising going from a normal pub setting to taking orders by text.

I don't think so. It's better to have a job. These incentives are only for a few months. Much better to be employed even if it seems attractive to be on the dole in the short term.
