Default Farewell AFF Members

Tomorrow, Im about to start the biggest and most challenging journey of my life. I am to embark on a Defence Force career. It has been a long process to get to this stage considering I applied 6 months ago. At first I just wanted to be a heavy vehicle mechanic, but after sitting for my aptitude test and technical tests, it opened up more career choices as I achieved a high mark.

From this I chose a position as a Aircraft Technician.

I quit my job a month ago and over the last few weeks I have been getting myself physically prepared by doing exercise as specified, push up, sit up and jogging every second day.

My parents have been the biggest help as they have been supporting throughout the whole process. My Mum for all her loving care and my Dad who has been my personal trainer. I am going to miss them dearly.

As silly as it sounds Im also going to miss my car, my AU. When ever I get stressed out, I go for a drive to get it away from it all and clear my head which helps me keep sane.

After I have my enlistment ceremony in the morning, I will be driven to the airport and then fly out to Adelaide, South Australia, then on to Edinburgh and begin my recruit training which goes for 10 weeks and 2 days.

I'd like to bid everyone on this forum a farewell and I'd like to thank all the members who have helped me and given me advice with my car.

Matt aka AU dude

Cheers

I got a mate in Adelaide at the moment who is thinking of taking the same position, but I've been trying to talk him out of it to be honest. But all the best mate and I hope it works out for ya.

Good luck mate. You'll love being in the service. Most awesome thing you can do in life I reckon. Have fun in recruit school. The friends you make there will be with you for life. And remember not to take crap from anyone!

Good Luck mate, got a mate in the air force, As a Electronics technician and he loves it, always got some funny **** to tell ya when he’s back in town, says joining up was the best thing he has done.

His Nickname at Recruit school was Commando, as he just cruised throe any PT they chucked at em, was the only one who could climb the ropes using just his arms and still beat everyone else to the top LOL.
