Cool Re: carsales scam busted...

Last week
there was a 2011 Territory Ghia on Ebay
when you opened it up you got a message
in very large text saying
do not bid email me first
also the buy it now price was $10k
but email me first which I did
the add showed pics and it looked like new
and the car was in Brisbane
it also had $300 as delivery which was very different
anyway I emailed him and got a response
the car is perfect but its in Broome WA
with my rellies after a nasty divorce
send ebay the 10k and I will truck it to you straight away
you will have it in 2 to 3 days (must be coming by hercules)
have a look at it and if you are happy
let me know and I will get ebay to release the money to me
of course it had scam written all over it
the I got an email from Ebay telling me the item had been deleted
due to improper selling and breaking the Ebay rules
the funny thing the so called seller had a feedback of 130 odd at 100%
so a very different way of selling? or is that ripping
John

No, the people who got ripped off reported it to the coppers who traced the transfers to her account.
It was only then they they discovered she was working for Nigerian Scammers who set up a site
on a new York server.

When I went through something like this a couple of years ago when I had my boat on Boatsales, the language the person was using was very contemporary young Australian (expressions like "it's all good"). So if it does originate in Nigeria (where some of the English expressions they use are bizarre so it's a dead giveaway) it seems to me they have some locals working for them. No doubt this girl was one and maybe there are more?

Not hard to get a 100% rating
just spend a few hundred $$ buying $1 items

perfect score then scam 2 people and then abandon that account and start another

If you sell or buy 1 item on ebay and get positive feedback, you immediately have 100% feedback.
