Default Part enquiries for higher HP.

Im after opinions as to what parts to use though in the next step of the build in my blue car.
Basically, when it was getting tuned on Wednesday we found a few issues.
One was that the intake is too restrictive.
The other was that they started running out of fuel around 4900rpm.
This means, with 152kw atw, they still have another 1300rpm to tune before its done.

I need advice on :
Fuel pump
Plug leads
Tyres (slicks)
and intake.
I also have to change injectors, to XR6t injectors, and am changing the cat to a 3 inch ballistic racing cat.

For an intake, my only idea is to go straight through the bonnet, I have no issues with this, but Im keen to hear peoples ideas, no matter how radical they are.
Personally, I want a 14 in round air cleaner with chrome top straight through the bonnet, but am unsure on legalities.

After all that, it will need a bit more play on the tuning side of things.
I will need slicks too, as now, with only 22psi, I cant get traction at the strip, I can only stall to 2300RPM, and the cam doesnt come on till 3000rpm on.

My 1/4 times in shocking weather was a 15.02 @ 93 mph, with 2.2 60's because I cant get traction. :

So post away, let me know some ideas on the items I need, and part numbers and suppliers if you have them.

Thanks,
Josh.

Well some of this we have discussed previously, but I will give my opinions anyway...

Fuel Pump - From what i can remember the pump in your car should hold up a bit longer, otherwise I'd be going for a bosch 040 intank pump. But with new injectors you should be right..

As for leads? There is a dude on here I think in brissy who makes his own, have heard very good results from them. I am sure blackers can provide more info.

And slicks, It'd depend whether you want to be able to drive to the track with them, or not?

Intake? If the pod is exposed, its illegal, its like flashing your c*ck in public, its not allowed.. And with it running through the bonnet rain is an issue. I'd be more likely suggest to run a pod behing your front bar before hacking your bonnet.. Otherwise look at one of the group buy CAI's and some decent intake piping and keep it legal..

Buy OED666's 3" Mandrell bent intake piping, Get decent tyres, you shouldn't be turning them with a 3000rpm stall but only leaving at 2300rpm.

What are the plans for the car? Boost? if so, mod the fuel pump cradle for an 044, otherwise, the stock pump should be fine for 185rwkw

152rwkw and the injectors arent coping???
let mw know how you go, i might need to change my injectors when i get my cam and springs etc done
also very keen to see the results with a better intake, i was going to buy a big mouth and some piping the other day but i reckon big mouths still might not give me that much of an increase in flow simply because where theyre positioned

Okie dokie.
I know a shaker is legal, maybe just a shaker hat, moulded into the bonnet, with the pod into it.
I didnt break tracction leaving the line at 2300, 2300 is as high as I could stall without breaking traction, I have a 3000rpm stall converter, and i cant even use it properly as it just goes sideways.
152kw on one dyno might be 170 on another, and 130 on another, my tuneis at 152kw on this dyno, and this is where I am running out of fuel. If I remeber correctly, Stav was running out of fuel at 166kw on the dyno he was using.

Down the track Im not sure whats in store for it, maybe S/C and NOS just for fun at the track, deregister it and just use it as a drag car.

As for OED's intak, whats he changing to if he's selling his intake? He'd have something up his sleeve, and I want in, lol.

When I was launching with the other tune the other week, I was running 235/45 17's, at 30psi, and even with so little power down low, it would still chirp off the line at 2500rpm.

Evilcheif, whats an adjustable FPR?

One other thing I would like to know, I cant even get the stall to stall up to max stall speed, one due to wheelspin, but if I use the handbrake and foot brake, it gets to 2600 and just starts creeping forward, I cant get the car to stay still. Would a transbrake fix this? If so, what would I be looking for in the way of one, and how exactly do they work.

for the intake, just get 3inch piping down into the front bar somewhere where it can suck cold air,

what power are you looking for?

Who knows, whatever its got. The restriction on the intake wasnt the way the pod was setup or anything, that was fine, it is that Im using a three inch pipe to the slinky elbow, and standard intake from slinky on. I used to have a 3 inch s/s mandrel bent one, but it didnt sit flush with the throttle body, and was always rubbing on the bonnet, and it was driving me insane, so I hacked it up, lol.
I want to go through the bonnet, Im not in this for looks, I have a bonnet waiting for hacking, so why not? Others have done it beofre me, and by reducing intake by two corners, and nearly a Meter of piping, I cant see how thats going to hurt at all?

do it, just straight off the throttle body about a 70 deg bend then pod filter, might not be center though

Get the shaker, no issues in qld when I looked into it. Leads, get onto qld ignition, as far as the fuel pump goes, factory will hold up fine beyond what you'll be putting out.

Ohhh, I see, lol.
As for fuel pump, it probably wont stay NA forever, soI might as well upgrade before a tune, get it all sorted out. At the moment, I cant even try and push it around a corner, it just starts to die.

Yeah sounds like you need a new pump then, the stock ones are good for at least 200rwkws, I know this much. If you do plan on going beyond this, I'd still keep the stock pump, add a surge tank and inline pump that can cope with what you want/have planned.
