I doubt a V8 will remain a prerequisite (XR6 turbo is obviously not one).
I believe BMW is a front runner especially with their existing relationship being a police motorcycle supplier. You will see whole of life arrangements being proposed by the euro manufacturers. Where they will be buy back the car at something like 50,000km refurbish it and sell it as certified pre owned through their dealerships. This will mean cars won't be sent to government auctions. This will offset a higher purchase price with a predetermined higher resale price. It will also protect the resale of the brand by limiting the numbers of cars flooding auctions. Wouldn't be surprised if they simply kept using Holdens though, I'm sure the replacement imported Commodore will have a AWD turbo version Last edited by Brazen; 15-11-2015 at 12:00 PM. |

Had a chat to a few members when they came to collect XR6 Turbo after service. One told
us that he was a dedicated Holden man but the XR6T was a better HP car than the V8 Holdens due to quicker acceleration. Interesting comment I thought |

Mustang probably wont get a look in as all cars are needed to transport people.
Id say Mondeos arent the worst replacement cars for the GD and non traffic specialist spots, Aurion is a good car that gets used a lot but Id say going the same was as Falcodore. In QLD a lot of GD cars are now Hyundai ILoads, so I guess there is always the possibility of i45 or bigger cars for generals. As for traffic guys, who knows. My vote goes to the Focus RS ;)

Nothing but a propaganda piece by Fairfax (under commission from their employers, Govco Industries).
The hi-po sedans are but another tool of intimidation used by an organisation whose existence is predicated on creating fear in the public via their predatory behaviour. |

I wouldn't be surprised if general duties move to compact SUVs for around town work such as Mazda CX5s or Hyundai Tucsons. Good for mounting kerbs and seeing ahead in traffic. Also makes the lightbar up and high for traffic clearing. Probably easier to jump in and out of with their heavy gun belt.
