im almost done a motor swap in my escort from the 1600 kent crossflow to the 2.0 pinto ohc, now
me and my mates started troubleshooting why it wont start, there is no fuel getting to the carb and there is no power from the coil, aside from the fuel situation, heres the deal, im using the coil from the 1600 which i am not sure if it is stock or not, and i am not sure if i have wired it up properly, there is a black wire coming from the side of the distributer so i looked at the kent engine and it seems that the black wire goes to the negative side of the coil? is this right? and can that coil work? is it to weak or something? the pinto came with a GT40 coil but it looks pretty dead, so i decided not to use it. any opinions? i will take some pictures if requested! |

sure man here we go, i used the origonal 1600 gearbox and bell housing, the 2 litre starter, 2 litre flywheel & clutch, i have the 1600 engine mounts in right now but they will never pass a roadworthy so i have to get my hands on a set of rs2000 mounts, things like fuel like air hose throttle cable etc have to be transferred to the other side of the engine bay,the 1600 radiator will work, depending on what electric thermo fan you use. an rs2000 top radiator hose will need to be used, you should make a list of things to buy lol it will help, alot of electrics need to be done, well not alot but there is some, its all pretty much the same for the mk1 aswell. any other help you need just ask
