Default WINTON DAY JULY 16TH pics and vids !

whoever took pics of the day, and videos (especially the one where i came off the track... post it up i want to look at it in 3rd view :P)

great day, definately be going to the next one... hopefully don't get too carried away and lose control... should have a spool so maybe it will stop it from switching from right to left = lose control if you try to drift, or if you don't even try,,,

it was about 20-30 cars at each time for only drivers, than the next session (about 20-30 mins later) it's drivers and passenger...

the track was damp, was a little rain nothing bad... but the track was slippery as.. suprised my tyres didn't get better grip though :(

ps: i won an unofficial AWARD, the most driver to have lost control today, 4 times damint!.

yeah turnout was pretty big i reckon, heaps of cars.... though my first time so i don't no if that is average or what.. but to me, there was a big turnout

- yup, 2 major crashes

1 wall, monaro 0 . write off i'm guessing... airbags went off .. was smoking from engine bay afterwards, front end was crushed to the **** house lol

1 wall, subaru 0 . who scraped down the left side as he went side ways into the walls... (really bad)

both cars got towed

they were registered, so i doubt they had track insurance(if thats even possible) .. but their insurance won't cover them :O

all those complaining about no money....
entrance to watch was free, surely a few could have carpooled and chipped in for a tank of fuel to come watch :P
or asked those who were going for a lift.

Both driver and passenger of the Monaro were taken to hospital for observation, but I believe they are OK.

The driver of the Subuaru is fine.

And NO there is no accident insurance on a race track.

All this was a bit disappointing from my point of view, I really want people to have a "fun" day, but this sort of stuff spoils it.

The day was a lot bigger crowd than we thought, no sure of numbers, but there were heaps there.

The track was wet all day, unfortunately we had to remove a few people off the track for being dangerous, some people don't seem to understand that we want a "safe" meeting.

But all in all a great day and I am sure most people had a great time, despite the rain.

Looks like mad fun! My car would be useless on a track as it is. On a wet track it would be laughable.

is that cause you got too much boost or your tyres won't cope :P?

my tyres are shiate in the wet, in the dry it's great.. except for once at a corner i always understeer cause i forgot to go slower as apposed to other corners :(

the first time on the track i did a 180 , and same same lap i went off at the S-Bent (all accidently , thought i was going slow enough - 50km/h .. an tyres don't help)

the other 2 times was accident, i went down to 2nd and/or straight to 1st gear , and my wheels locked for a second and lost grip .. spun out

Yep, my son and I share the ute, he spent most of the time in it, he had the big loose off the main straight _ .

I did have a few laps, it is good to be out there seeing what is "really" going on.

I spent most of my time in the old pit lane with the HQ Safety Ute.

It goes pretty good, we really struggled to get the power to the ground yesterday, too much power and not good tyres, it should be it last outing, we are retiring it and putting all the running gear in an XE sedan, but it won't have the same "presence" I don't think.

most likely better then mine :P
gotta ease it out of the corners in the wet, can give it a fair bit in the dry (track is very sticky)
loads of understeer though, i should check my tyres

So how did the day work i assume there were several sessions where you got to go out for a specified amount of time, but was there a rule like you have to leave a certain distance between you and the car in front so you dont ram them if they spin out etc? I'd be worried some d!ckhead would crash into me, more than myself putting it into a wall.

What speed did you guys get up to on the straights and were you allowed to get some sideways action around the corners as i know alot of tracks ban this on non drift specific track days?
