Hi guys, im in the process of rebuilding my XC fairmont, and the previous owner has deleted the heater pipes that run through the fire wall. Just wondering, is it a requirement to run a heater for a roadworthy or can i weld those holes up aswell?
cheers. |

From previous experience, it IS a requirement that the heater hoses are connected to obtain a legit RWC. The usual practice is to dummy a couple of hoses up to make it look as though everything's hooked up if your heater core leaks (as most do!), although if you find a friendly RWC guy that's prepared to overlook it then it won't matter. This may be academic if you have no way of dummying them up, in which case you'll want to find a leniant RWC guy.
I think that the reason it needs to be connected is so that the windscreen demister works.
