Forget it boys, don't even try because I'm going to be the winner.
Ok, lets say if you won the $50 million, what would you spend it on/do with the money? First off, I'd pay off the rest of my parents mortgage, buy them each a new car and give them $5 million each, lets just say that totals $10M for easy maths sake. $20M invested between banks and a little bit on the stock market. The last $20M I'm going to buy 20 properties in a new estate out here in rural Victoria, all in one or two streets then develop them into houses, then give each away to family members. The rest of the money I want to open a Maccas store and then squander the rest on other crap I don't need. Then I woke up and changed hands, eat vegemite on toast, brushed my teeth, drove 55km to work and talked about the same subject in the 30 minutes I have before start time. |

Forget 'backpacking' haaa! Me??? God only knows... put it in the bank for a few weeks to ponder, then go buy a Ferrari with the interest I have just earned... Then again... after staying in more hostels then I care to remember when I was backpacking I always wanted to own / run my own... Will buy a ticket!

I like the idea of roughing it in the mountains somewhere, the rocking up to a 5 star hotel stinking of sweat and hard work and being filthy then pulling a Black Amex card out and getting the best room in the joint

Good luck to everyone!
What would I do? I'd buy a BIG house with a beautiful infinity pool and movie room (with popcorn maker and complete bar) and pay off any debts my family and friend's have. Then buy a 2013 Shelby GT500 for me. OH yea that would be my happy dance! I'd also donate heaps to the causes I believe in and volunteer at. |

I'd do what I always do when I come into large (albeit not as large as 50m). Squander it on stupid, useless **** like bluray movies, pokies and kebabs.

With the 2m that I have left after all that, I might buy a nice house and buy an XR6t and dump every modification known to man, then use the little bit thats left to fund petrol for the next week.

If I won that kind of money, I wouldn't tell anyone...except hubby and the kids. Would give most of it to charity..after all, it would be a lot of money for anyone.

Once spent it's gone. Invest the win then try and spend the earnings from it. At 5% it's $2.5m year

Definately help out family and friends, build a nice house on my land down the coast, buy a few cars and bikes, world trip with the mrs, charity, RSPCA would get a nice chunk on the condition that i could volunteer with them for something to do once all the fun has been had, leave enough invested somewhere so i can live off the interest and pay day to day bills lol

This is going to sound stupid, but how many numbers do you play? I've never bought a ticket before but I think I might as well for this draw.
What do you say to the girl at the newsagent? Hi I'd like to get a ticket for the jackpot? Or...?

Can someone confirm something for me as I hear different stories, does your lotto win get taxed?
I only say that because I couldnt see the gov having it not be...but that would kind of suck a little.

As far as I know, winnings cannot be taxed. It falls under a certain field of income, which I learned about in economics in year 12 but obviously since I don't go to school anymore its all gone out the window.

I would pay off any debt for myself, and immediate family, ie parents & brother.
$5mil to parents, $5mil to brother. Buy a house I really like to live in. Buy a couple more to rent out - real estate agents can deal with these ones, don't want the hassle of doing it myself. Couple of cars I really like would end up in my garage. My LTD would get a FULL restore & then get off defect. Then I'd go see my boss tell him I want to drop from Full Time to Part Time - I think I'd still need to work some to keep the brain active. I'd live life as normal as I could, just with a bunch of money.5

The way the Australian Government get you with your winnings is the lump sum that you receive is tax free... but ... if you have that money invested or in the bank the Government classes the interest that you receive from the bank as"taxable income". ( eg: $30 mill in the bank at 5% would gather $1.5 mill interest from the bank, therefore you would have to pay tax on $1.5 mill as if you had worked for it.) The bulk of the dough would have to be taken off shore somewhere. 70 mill really is big league stuff |

Because of the amount, you get some as a bulk payment, the rest of it comes in installments. - Assuming you took it all and it wasn't split between more than 5 people/tickets.
For me - pay off debts, repay family. Invest the rest of the bulk payout which should allow the misses to give up working. From there, maybe a new car and some house renos with the first or second installment, then setup the boy for school/life and maybe a little travel. From there..... I'd probably share it around as I can't see a need for THAT much.

I'd buy and pay off at least 10 properties for investment. Money to mum and brother. Maybe not the sis though. Buy a rooftop apartment in NY for the lady friend. And of course.... A Lamborghini x4, old school impala and big gt500, and probs a fg f6 as a run around car
Ahh it's nice to dream |
