Angry Is Falcon Going the Way of Fairlane and LTD?????

The facts are Ecoboost was June, then it became November, now its Jan 2012??? is it ??
The new LPG engine ?? all there is is talk??? Ford keep delaying the new engines and updates.
Makes me wonder if Ford is letting the Falcon die, as it did with Fairlane and LTD???
Fords model range to be : Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo with the Taurus as the luxury big car.????
It just makes me think Ford has an ulterior motive for all the delays.
Then, Mondeo Ecoboost is announced for June!!!!!!
I hope I am wrong and 2012 will be Fords big year, instead of 2011, which was supposed to be Fords revival year???

Of course they do, it has to do with available engineering time,
ironing out bugs before they release a new version and giving
customers something to buy in the meantime.

According to Bossxr8, EcoLPI will be with us by around May
so sales should increase then but in the meantime the new
Territory is going to be all over car mags and internet.......

To me. LPi is far more important.

Thought Ecoboost was in Nov (and now delayed till 2012).
LPG is to be out mid year.

Maybe the loss of two years trying to put that V6 in the Falcon could have been a bit of an issue?

But thats for starting another doom and gloom thread. We haven't had a new one for like 5 mins.

Ford dont just make Falcon, you have to add ute and Territory and the small amount of exports to NZ etc. Add them together and it looks a bit better.

Not necessarily. One FORD will call for a Lincoln Town Car/Continental replacement, and a LWB Falcon would be an easy fit. If this becomes a reality, FORD Australia will have a ready made Fairlane, with V6, EcoBoost V6 and V8. Beautiful...

Roadwarrior, I agree!

Edit: Brazen - South Africa want Territory back, too. Especially the Diesel.

Its not doom and gloom..Ford could release details, without giving too much away..The Ecoboost has been out for awhile in America and Europe. The only issue here is fitting it into the Falcons engine bay. 4 cylinder engine into a 6 cylinder engine bay..Which shouldn't be too hard. Lotsa room !!
Its fwd in Mondeo and rwd in America. The engineering work has already been done..
I am a conspiracy theorist nut!!! Imagine if Holden kept delaying a new Commodore?? Glover and co wouldn't be happy!!!
I hope the new Tezza gets properly advertised..Fords marketing Dept, leaves a lot to be desired. New FPV ads at Clipsal, I hope they are really, good!!!

Quick question csv8 - which American FORD is the EcoBoost currently available in RWD? My information is that FORD Australia are working on the RWD application for the whole of the FORD world.

After skipping two Ford Taurus generations, the resurrected sport sedan has all-wheel drive and is largely derived from the Ford D3 platform. It features a 3.5 liter direct-injected twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 producing 365 hp (272 kW) at 5500 rpm and 350 lb·ft (475 N·m) of torque at 1500-5250 rpm,[14] mated to Ford's 6F55 [15] six-speed SelectShift semi-automatic transmission with a paddle- or console-activated Manual mode.
The new SHO comes with Ford's new SR1 suspension setup with MacPherson front struts and a multi-link design in the rear. This includes SHO-specific shock absorbers, springs, stabilizer bars and strut mount bushings. An optional Performance Package offers better brake pads, recalibrated steering, a "Sport Mode" for the stability control and shorter 3.16 to 1 final drive ratio.
Visually, the differences from the regular Taurus are subtle. It is encompassed by a dark grey grille finish that matches the larger wheels, a decklid spoiler, dual chrome exhaust tips, new parking lamp bevels, an EcoBoost rear logo, and an SHO C-Pillar logo.[2][16]
or
The mighty Ford F-150 pickup is getting a V6, a potent EcoBoost powerplant.

Ford confirmed more of its plans for the rollout of EcoBoost through the end of this year. And, as expected, Ford's top-selling flagship truck will get the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine in rear-wheel-drive models. It makes 365 hp in the Taurus SHO.

Nope, and other than the F150, none of them will ever be RWD. The Taurus is FWD, and the engine sits the wrong way in Explorer.

Ford Australia were tasked with the engineering work for the i4T and RWD.

Better than nothing - it's 100 cars a month that Ford would have not built, or put onto grass.

Can Ford force them Falcon as well? It used to be quite successful over there.

You think it's so simple.... "the engineering has already been done..." don't mean to offend, but you have no idea unfortunately. If it was so simple to achieve what you expect is so easy, and all conforming to internal Ford standards (which for example is different to Daewoo standards for example), don't you think it would be done? (and this is also ignoring existing commitments and workloads).

The portion you have quoted also mentions two completely different engines. The EcoBoost V6 is not available in Europe. The i4T isn't quite yet available in the USA.

Japan would be a good little market for FPV GT, bright colours and lots of grunt. The Japanese love the brute American style cars, 6 cylinder wouldnt work over there, would have to be V8 or nothing. V8 Explorers were quite popular over there even though the Japanese could get a lot better domestic 4wd for the money. The biggest market for V8 MGs in the late 80s and early 90s was Japan.

I'm at a loss Andrew,
FoA announces Ecoboost Mondeo for Australia and the apocalypse is upon us.
IMO, we'll will have two good cars with Ecoboost giving buyers a choice and doubling sales,
I don't see any other manufacturer having an answer to that 1, 2 punch....

Yes but that 1, 2 punch needs to happen yesterday, not next year

Spilt milk, it's not as though the window of opportunity has closed forever.
We have to stop thinking that car releases are absolute and no other time
frame will be successful. The moment Ford starts building cars the market
wants, they will do better and sales will rise.

Gee. Doom and gloom. Ford has ingratiated itself nicely into the One Ford world! Things will get better.

The diesel flip-flop caused by Gorman is why Territory diesel is 4 years late.

EcoLPi is late because of the V6 cancellation. It kept jobs locally and produced an offspin in the brake casting company. Great stuff, but it is really hurting production and sales numbers right now.

It is true that things are right now at a lull for Falcon, but there is much to look forward to on the import side and Territory is imminent. Falcon sales will rise with EcoLPi in June.

The possibility of Territory exports to South Africa is nice to hear too.
